Re: Andersen Windows???
JMHO- An Anderson window is like a designer gown... it's a gown... but-- you can get one just like it that will do the same purpose- and for much much cheaper.
We bought our windows at Home Depot. THey were the stock windows that came in many different sizes that are just as good. each window was about $100. We instaled them and have had not one INKING of a draft or a problem for that matter.

Re: Andersen Windows???
We just ordered our casement window last week from Home Depot. We also purchased the American Standard one. The price difference I think was between 125.-150. The american standard one's according to FI were very good for a store brand. I think the main difference is that the American standard has the vinal insides and the Anderson has the wood.

Re: Andersen Windows???
My husband & I own a home improvement company and I'm a firm believer in the true advantages of Andersen windows.Although from the contractors point of view, we can actually make more money installing vinyl windows because they are inexpensive to buy, go in quick & require very little craftsmanship. We still steer people toward Andersen, pella or Marvin. Andersen has been around about 100 years & they do back their product up. Recently my DH took 3 Andersen windows that were stamped with a manufacturing date of 1926 out of a house bellmore & they were still in perfect operating condition! The townhouse we own is 15 years old, has basic windows & we have plastic on our windows because they are so drafty(we can't change them unless the whole neighboorhood does but thats another story) Andersen, Pella & Marvin are all going to add resale value to your home. You should check out their website for energy ratings & then compare to the other windows you are interested in. Andersen

I've heard Anderson windows are great -my aunt used them.
my parents recently changed all the windows in their house (its three floors so that is all lot of windows!!) but they used PELLA - there is a Pella showroom in Hauppauge

Re: Andersen Windows???
My parents installed Andersen windows throughout their home in the mid 80s and they are still not only in style but in perfect working condition. I like the bow window in the living room!! I think if you can afford it, go for it.
