Angelica Glass, Blue Daisy and Something in Blue, and other PJ Brides

Where you able to give your photographer a list of must take photos?

Did you have 1 or 2 photogs?

Did you feel you had enough posed shots, full lenghts and close up piks of you with the bridal party, your parents, other family, and (most importantly) FH?

Any other opinions? I love PJ but want lots of portriats and close up with FH, my girld and the family . Do you think a PJ could work? Any experince with the ones mentioned above?

Im a BD bride. Yes, we listed must take pics. We had 2 photogs. I wish we had more portraits with family (and more of DH and I even though we did get a good amount) but we tried to pack everything into the CH. There were other constraints as well. Im sure w/ more time, it would have been easier. Its really impt to jot down your list of what portrait shots you really want, esp with a more photojournalistic photog. In the moment, it can be hard to remember all the pics you wanted. So def bring your list day-of too. Overall, Im 100% happy w/ our photos! And I highly suggest BD. Mariann is amazing to work w/.

i had two photographers w/thomaspaul. definetly worth having two...u really get two different perspectives, and while ur main photographer is posing u & such, the other is zooming in getting different angles, snapping away with candids etc. so i'd highly reccomend it. I do wish we got more full length portraits of DH & i. We have gorgous BREATHTAKING photos, but the only real full length shot of my dress is from coming down the aisle, and then a side view portrait of DH & i which i happen to love but i'm not wearing my veil. like i said, we have gorgous photos - just wish i had more of those. just be specific with what u want & absolutely make a must take photo list! i actually printed out photos i liked & gave them to my photographer a few days beforehand.

Something in Blue & Angelica are pure candid photojournalist.

SIB specifically states that they don't 'do' must-take photo lists.

All the ones listed are fantastic, and their work speeks for itself. They're professionals - they've been doing this forever, every weekend, and they know what shots to take.

If you want someone that will adhere to formal must-take list - Blue Daisy is best.

I was a Blue Daisy bride. I gave her a very short must take list which she was great about. I got all the pics I asked for.

However, I didn't think to ask for a picture of me alone. I don't have one 'portrait' style picture or close up of myself or pf me & DH facing forward. So we didn't have a formal pic of me & DH to submit for the newspaper. Our paper up here would not accept her GORGEOUS candid style pics for an announcement. So I would recommend putting those on your list...

I get the impression that most of the photogs I am looking at are not open to a must take list - which may be ok b/c I think my must takes would be very general --- a bunch of posed shots, full lenghts (showing my dress - with and with put FH) and close up piks of me with the bridal party, your parents, other family, and (most importantly) FH.

its true, most photojournalistic photographers do not like a must take list. A must take list does defeat the purpose of candid photojournalistic style of the pics. Maybe you can make specific small suggestions like you want a full length pic of your dress and just simple things like that. We also said we need pics with the family and that was fine with AG but besides asking for pics with the families, we didnt request anything else.

Thanks. I definetely want to be very broad about what I would like in my photos. I don't want to give my photog a checklist or anything like that. My family is coming from overseas so I just want to capture that and have some good shots of me and FH (Definetely dont want to walk away without some full lenghts and portraits) - I think what I am looking for is pretty general so I am hoping it will be ok with a PJ.

yeah that should be fine then. I think what they dont like is when you write a long a** list and very specific things like i want to be sitting down looking one way and fh looking at me and giving them SPECIFIC pictures from other weddings meanwhile those other pictures are candid shots from other weddings and it was only special bc it actually happened and was a special moment to recreate moments like that is different, you'll have your own special moments they can capture.

What you are saying sounds fine, just say you want certain family in the pictures, and full length pics of you...i dont think any PJ will have a problem with that at all
