Re: Anna, How are you feeling??
Hey Elizabeth,
I'm feeling pretty good ! Thanks for asking
About 2 nites ago, I had major contractions, not thinking they were contractions. I had cramps, major pressure down there (too pee and poop and didnt have to do neither-sorry to be so blunt!) and major tightening of my belly. The next morning I told my sister and she was like 'OMG, you didnt time them ? I never had that so early ! Those were contractions!'
I havent had any pressure like that since then, so i'm just waiting now...
My due date is next Thurs 10/3, so maybe this baby wants to come early ! My next OB visit is Friday morning, cant wait ! I'm only 1cm as of last Friday, how about you ?
Keep me posted !
Tummy pats !

Re: Anna, How are you feeling??
How exciting/scary! I hope your bag is packed!!I'm trying not to get nervous, it still doesn't seem real yet - the closeness of it, that is. Just recently, my hubby & I keep saying to each other 'I can't believe WE'RE going to be parents!'
My last OB visit was last Tuesday and he said I wasn't going anywhere for a bit. Of course that could change week to week and my next visit is Thu AM. We did have a sonogram last Tue and she estimated the baby at 6 lb 12 oz - THAT DAY! Which puts us on track to have an 8 1/2-9 lb baby!
I was just sorting all the baby clothes to wash everything I will need in the beginning. I'm only going to wash the clothes up to 3 month size for now and bedding, blankets and stuff of course. Now I want DH to take down all the curtains and blinds to clean - am I in the nesting phase or what?!?
Don't forget to pop in here and post a quick message if you are on your way to the hospital (kidding!
)

Re: Anna, How are you feeling??
I'm nesting too, and my feet are swollen so it doesnt help to be on my feet all day. DH calls me from work saying 'stop cleaning, Miss Nester, and lay down and read a book !' (and who will do the cleaning, him ? hah, right!)
Dont wash/take tags off of too much of the NB / 0-3m size onesies or clothing, your baby may skip right over it , or not need it for long, depending on his/her weight. A friend of mine advised me on that, which I thought was a good idea...
So far I was 1cm 2 weeks in a row, so i'm not counting on anything, but I am getting ancy !!!
I have started preparing my bag, and getting ready, but who knows...
My sister will probably post for me here, as I did for her when she gave birth ! (she posts on a different parenting board)...
Where are you delivering ? (I'm at St Charles in Port Jeff)...

Re: Anna, How are you feeling??
Thanks Melissa, and lots of luck to you !
Enjoy every minute ! I started feeling flutters between 18 and 19 weeks, its so amazing, your head is in a cloud as you feel these little movements....
Hope your first trimester is going good !
Dont eat soft/fresh cheese (feta, mozzarella, goat), hot dogs, cold cuts... Those are just a few that I've been told about...They may contain listeria, and there was just an outbreak of listeria. other than that, eat anything you want !
Tummy pats to you !

Re: Good luck to both of you
Anna- I'm having the baby at Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola (or possibly in the car on the way there haha).I'm still trying to do too much, and I get very tired and my back aches so I'll probably finally learn how to relax just in time to have the baby. I have those swollen ankles too - all summer and now of course they are worse. 'cankles' I think they're called, where your calves go right into your ankles with no indentation. Swelling and heartburn/acid reflux have been the main things that have caused me grief this pregnancy, which are both painful and uncomfortable but in the big scheme of things, I'm pretty lucky, I know far worse can go on for expecting moms - and the baby's always been great (Thank God! That's what's most important!)
Melissa-Congratulations, definitely take it easy when you can, honor your body's requests. You are probably feeling very tired, hopefully not having M/S though. I bought a few books at the beginning of my pregnancy and one that I love is 'Your pregnancy week by week', it tells you what's happening with your body & the baby each week. Of course 'What to expect when you're expecting' is tried and true. My Mom just bought me 'What to expect the first year'
I hope you will enjoy the pregnancy. I have for the most part. Anna's so right, when you feel that little baby moving inside you, it has definitely been the biggest thrill of all!

Re: Good luck to both of you
Thanks for the advice ladies! I appreciate it.
Anyway, I bought both of the books you mentioned (what to expect AND your pregnancy, week by week). I am finding that I like the latter MUCH better. It is far more positive and less focused on what can go wrong! As far as m/s goes, I'm finally getting over it and my appetite is back with a vengeance! (sp??) Other than pure exhaustion, I feel fine. I cannot WAIT to feel the little one move inside me! Anyway, good luck again! I can't wait to find out if you're having girls/boys!!

Hooray to no more morning sickness!!!! I thankfully never had full blown m/s but the nausea was memorable enough! I use to get queasy at a few things in particular - brown gravy, broccoli, anything creamy - I think the worst was the gravy, it was everywhere I looked in stores and restaurants LOL! Alot of wretching...Re: What can go wrong - I think you'll find that throughout your pregnancy you'll be hit with alot of information - some you may need to hear realistically and some you just don't need to subject yourself to. If someone is thoughtlessly telling you a pregnancy-related horror story, by all means speak up and don't let them fill your head with fear. Same goes for some of these shows on the many cable channels. 'Maternity Ward' can be a very depressing show...'A Baby Story' is more upbeat
Another book that's great, when you're ready to start, is 'Baby Bargains' - it is full of information on all the baby gear out there - very very informative. I felt overwhelmed with the choices out there with strollers, car seats, monitors, playyards, etc. etc. and this book helped tremendously, they rate all the products and explain alot about the foreign world of baby paraphrenalia.
Keep taking those prenatals!!!

Re: Melissa
Claud, Lee and Debbie, thanks for the good wishes!Melissa, glad to hear your MS is gone. My form of MS was weird. I would just gag if i was STARVING in the morning, if my stomach was totally empty, i would have this cough/gag.. But I just ate ASAP and took care of that !
Elizabth, I had to laugh at the 'cankles' thing because after we saw the movie SHALLOW HAL, my DH calls my ankles CANKLES when they are swollen. I think its a word that was made up in that movie, LOL. we were peeing in our pants when we heard it on the movie, and now I have my very own! LOLL.
We just took an infant CPR class the the Suffolk Y JCC (in Commack) last nite, it was FREE. I posted a month ago on a few free classes given there (prenatal care, breastfeeding, etc). Do a search on 'PREGO, Free classes' i think may have been the topic. Its so worth going. We are now certified in CPR for infants and kids, GOD FORBID we should ever need to use it. Its a very educational class.
TUMMY PATS TO ALL.
and BABY DUST
to all who want some !
Im looking forward to a moms get together !
Claud ? you in ? and where's Kel ?
In a few months, i'll start that up !
