Is anyone skipping the traditional garter - bok toss and adding the anniversary dance? Any good song suggestions?

Re: Anniversary Dance
We did this though we had never seen it done before. Our DJ recommend At Last. The beginning of the song was the original version which cut into the Celine Dion version. I liked it.

Re: Anniversary Dance
We didn't do the bo-k or garter toss. Instead we had all the men in my family dance with my Grandmother who turned 100 a few months after the wedding. I was supposed to give her the tossing bo-k, but we forgot it at home.

Bon Jovi - Next 100 years! I just think it is sooo perfect (not to mention I LOVE ME SOME BON JOVI)
Chorus: I'm gonna hold you 'til your hurt is gone Be the shoulder that you're leaning on I'll be standing here For the next 100 years If it all should end tonight I'll know it was worth the fight And we'll be standing here For the next 100 years

Re: Anniversary Dance
no idea on songs yet, but I really want to do this! i am doing bouquet toss since im the first of my friends to be getting married and I think people would enjoy it, but no garter toss.
What increments do they tell people to sit down for? we want the smallest one to be.... if you got married in the last 3 weeks, sit down. one of our groomsmen is getting married 2 weekends before us.

Re: Anniversary Dance
We did the anniversary dance and used the song 'The Voyage' by Christy Moore.
LYRICS:
I am a sailor, you're my first mate We signed on together, we coupled our fate Hauled up our anchor, determined not to fail For the hearts treasure, together we set sail
With no maps to guide us we steered our own course Rode out the storms when the winds were gale force Sat out the doldrums in patience and hope Working together we learned how to cope
Chorus: Life is an ocean and love is a boat In troubled water that keeps us afloat When we started the voyage, there was just me and you Now gathered round us, we have our own crew
Together we're in this relationship We built it with care to last the whole trip Our true destination's not marked on any charts We're navigating to the shores of the heart
Chorus 2x

Re: Anniversary Dance
I'm doing the bouquet toss and garter thing.
But I want to do a special anniversary dance dedication only for my grandparents - it'll be their 60th anniversary!!! I'm thinking of having the DJ play 'Through The Years' by Kenny Rogers.

Re: Anniversary Dance
We did the Garter Removal, but didn't toss anything.
Instead, we did an Anniversary Dance to give away the bouquet.
The song we used was 'I Do (Cherish You)' by Mark Willis
All I am, all I'll be Everything in this world, all that I'll ever need Is in your eyes, shining at me When you smile I can feel all my passion unfolding
Your hand brushes mine And a thousand sensations seduce me 'cause I
I do, cherish you For the rest of my life You don't have to think twice I will, love you still, from the depths of my soul It's beyond my control I've waited so long to say this to you If you're asking do I love you this much, I do
In my world before you I lived outside my emotions Didn't know where I was going Until that day I found you How you opened my life to a new paradise
In a world torn by change Still with all of my heart, until my dying day
I do, cherish you For the rest of my life You don't have to think twice I will, love you still, from the depths of my soul It's beyond my control I've waited so long to say this to you If you're asking do I love you this much, yes I do
I've waited so long to say this to you So, if you're asking if I love you this much, I do Oh, I do

Re: Anniversary Dance
I want to do the dance but not the bok and garter, see the topic I posted, sorry didnt' read this one first...
I was thinking of using our parents' wedding songs or maybe my grandparents' because we know they will be last. We want to give away two boks because we aren't sure who would come in second...

Re: Anniversary Dance
We did an anniversary dance. (It was probably one of my favorite parts of the wedding since the dancefloor was still full when the DJ announced 30 years). We used the song Unchained Melodies (from Ghost), since it's one of my mom's favorite. Plus I figured that since the older folks would be dancing to it longest, I wanted to use a song that they knew and would like.

Re: Anniversary Dance
I really like the Anniversary Dance idea, I think we're gonna do this, but I don't know what song to use at all, I do kinda like Through the Years, but may want something a little more modern.

Re: Anniversary Dance
We're doing the anniversary dance as well, to the song 'By Your Side' by Sade
You think I'd leave your side baby? You know me better than that You think I'd leave down when your down on your knees? I wouldn't do that
I'll do you right when your wrong I-----ohhh, ohhh
If only you could see into me
oh, when your cold I'll be there to hold you tight to me When your on the outside baby and you can't get in I will show you, your so much better than you know When your lost, when your alone and you can't get back again I will find you darling I'll bring you home
If you want to cry I am here to dry your eyes and in no time you'll be fine
You think I'd leave your side baby You know me better than that You think I'd leave you down when your down on your kness I wouldn't do that
I'll do you right when your wrong I-----I, ohhhh, ohhh
If only you could see into me
Oh when your cold I'll be there To hold you tight to me Oh when your alone I'l be there by your side baby repeat 1x

Re: Anniversary Dance
I am skipping the whole garter thing, but still tossing the bouquet.
I am using my parents wedding song as the anniversary song which is 'evergreen.'
