Annoying Co-worker vent!!!
This just got under my skin...
At work today my stomach was bothering me...just a little queasy since AF is here. I was talking to a friend of mine at work about my stomach bothering me, when one of the new agents came in (who does not know me from adam) and said 'well, maybe you're pregnant'. Now, there is nothing more that I want than to eventually have kids, but we just got married, I'm in grad school and working part time, and DH and I are not anywhere near a financial situation to start a family. So I said 'If I was, I would jump out of the nearest window'. He then goes on this rant on how having babies is the most important thing a woman could do. While I agree that having a baby will be one of biggest deals in my life, I explained that I had to finish my degree first and get into a better financial situation before we can start a family. You know what this a$$ said to me? He scoffs and says 'yeah, you are going to wait until, what? 45? (not that it matters, but I'm only 28) Everyone now a days wants all these material things and are all about themselves. You want to get as much material stuff as possible?'. Now, normally I am pretty level headed, but it took every once of control I had not to ring his neck. If having any form of a roof over my head makes me a selfish materialistic beyotch, then I guess I am! So selfish of me not to want to have my kids living in a cardboard box or hearing mommy and daddy fighting constantly about bills! And I'm selfish for wanting to finish my masters that I am only months away from complleting and actually have a good career so we can have a decent quality of life? He actually smirked and shook his head at me! My friend came to my rescue and told him off.
DH and I were engaged for a very long time and we got very minimal rude annoying comments. Now, 2 weeks after being married I am being laughed at because I don't want kids right away? I am not freaking out about this, I just wanted to share and I was wondering if anyone else had a situation like this?
