We had to cancel the place we had our original RD booked because we moved the ceremony to another part of the island. So I went out to look and I found a place that FH and I both like (we eat there all the time) and they are the ONLY ones that are well within our price range. BUT, my mom wants us to have it at this one particular place that I don't want to have it. We are paying for it, but she keeps insisting that she and my dad would pay if we have it at the place she wants. FH and I think the place is too far away from the church and it is out of the way. I just wish she would be happy that we found a place we like and the food is great!

if you are paying and it is convenient to the location of the ceremony, i say have it where you want it.
my mil wanted us to have our rd at her house, a good 20/30 min drive on a week night. we said no and that was that.

I recommend sticking to your guns. At pre-cana they taught us to say, 'WE decided' to our parents, so that we have a united front with both sets of in-laws. This should work very well considering YOU are paying for it... Maybe you could say, 'FH and I decided it would be better to have it at X restaurant because it's so close to the church, etc.' Good luck. These family butt-ins are tough.

FAMILY!!! they can drive you crazy sometimes...
I would've gone with - Family...you can't live with them, and you cant shoot them!
stick with your guns! your day, your way!!!! besides, you're paying so she doesnt get a say in it! BUT, if you want to save money for your HM, let them pay and do the extra drive...it wont kill you.
