Another 'adults only' question.

Another 'adults only' question.

Is it appropriate, in your opinion, to allow only OOT guests to bring children?

Is it all or nothing?

I think my family with kids here will get offended if they see other kids there, but theirs were not allowed.

Locals will be offended. I tried to enforce the same policy and it didn't work. Then I tried to apply an age limit (no kids under 10) but one of my SIL's brought her 3 year old anyway. She's OOT though, so I didn't say anything.

All my OOT guests are going to be invited with children, but almost 100% of them are my/FH's cousins so we would want them there anyways. I'm one of the oldest of my cousins and I couldn't imagine my wedding w/o them.

In town, only 1st cousins will be invited.

People that are unreasonable will get offended regardless of what you do....go with what you think is right, and hope for the best. I personally think it's better to leave all the kids out rather than inviting some, but not others...I also think that small children do not belong at an evening affair where adults are drinking, and dancing, and there is loud music. Getting a sitter for your OOT guests in a really nice gesture, but I don't think a requirement....if they are traveling from OOT then they knew about, and planned on coming to your wedding for a while, they should have made arrangements.

yep. we did the same. No offense to your guests, but you have enough to plan & coordinate that day, the last thing you need is a babysitter issue to deal with.

I totally agree with DITA531. My brother just had there first child and she is my goddaughter, and we are having no kids including out of towners. You can't invite some and not others, no matter where they are from. I have MANY guests from out of town and told them from the get go and they arranged sitters on there own, they had PLENTY of time!!!!!!

you have to apply the rule to everyone - you are just asking for people to be angry on this one...

Its not that I dont want them to come at all. I'd love them to share the day with us. But I dont want 30 of them taking over and making my reception straight out of Chuck E. Cheese!

& I want my 'adults w/kids' to enjoy themselves, dance & drink, and not go home early because the kids need to go to bed.

Thanks girls!! Sometimes you just need confirmation that your doing the right thing. I think I'll go w/ all or nothing here.

I think if it's an 'adult only' wedding then no one can bring their children.

Both FI and I have a lot of kids in our families and they are a big part of our lives (all nieces and nephews) so we've invited everyone to the wedding. We just couldn't imagine the day without them.
