another baby name vent...no im not preggo lol

Im not pregnant and prolly wont be for a while but the other day me and mom were talking about names and with michelles recent vent about names it got me thinking about this conversation...

my mom asks me what im thinking of for a girl when the time comes, so i tell her, Morgan Brenna, which dh and I just adore and she makes this face. So im like what? She goes oh nothing, its nice just think that the child has to live with this name forever. I got so mad..i was like...yeah and? I had to live with Noreen and I didnt like it too much..so then she got mad. Why is that I cant say I dont like my name that much but when she says she doesnt like one of the names i may choose, it should be listened to???

I still Morgan Brenna but you know when your mom says something and then you think you agree with her cause shes your mom...now im thinking..ok maybe not...anyone know what im talking about??

My mom makes faces at just about every name we like, and it's too d*a*m*n bad!
It's your baby, and your mom will grow to love the name just because she loves the child.

My SIL's boss is pregnant with two girls. She and her DH decided on Jessica and Heather. His mother told them that Heather is trailer park name

Noreen, I totally know what you mean. MOTHERS answers can either influence us to change our own (when we didnt want to!) or it can make us feel bad about our decision but stick to the name that you adore.
Jenn answered it perfectly. She will learn to love this name BY DEFAULT just from the overwhelming love she will have for this child..
and all this stress over a girls name, now you will probably have a boy first, lol.

I KNOW exactly what you mean
I have adopted a new policy. When my parents asked me what are the names for the baby I said, 'We are not sure yet nor do we want any opinions'. They are NOT happy that we are not sharing but I knew last time I mentioned some names that my stepmom hated all of them. I don't want to feel at all influenced because honestly it is hard enough for Scott and I to agree, let alone make everyone else happy.

I totally agree ... if your family isn't going to be supportive, then I would stick to the 'we're not sure, we haven't settled on anything yet' OR 'We're not telling ANYONE' lines. Makes it easier for everyone.

Honestly, I'm on the other side of it, (referring to my bro & SIL's choice of name for their boy ... I posted yesterday on Michele's thread), but I would never tell him how I felt about it. My feeling is ... if you want to give the kid a terrible name, that's your perogative. I don't have to call him that tho!

I'll probably wind up calling him 'Buddy' or ' Big Boy' for the rest of his life!

Mothers are ALWAYS going to have some comment, and usually one you won't agree with!! I learned that a long time ago, especially with my mom!!

My mother DOES NOT like the name we picked for a boy, which is Angelo Vincent, AT ALL, but to quote my pal JennRenee, 'too d*a*m*n bad'!!!! I keep telling her 'look, you had your chance to name your kids and look at the original names you picked out, Debbie & Dawn. I didn't like your choices either, so we're even!'

Bottom line, it's your child and you and your hubby are the only ones who have to agree and like the name! Those infamous 'people' are ALWAYS going to have a comment to make about the name you choose.

And to those infamous people, they can all Go scratch your a$$, is what I say!!

this is the WORST Noreen!!! I know it well!

I don't even TELL my mom anymore....she goes - 'oh......' and I can just SEE the face over the phone! Then I get a 'sister call' - 'Mommy is freaking out that you want to name the baby so and so. ' There is nothing she has liked, but her worst hated is Lola. (so of course I tell her that is definitely the girl name even though it's not just to make her nuts) But she is SO judgemental! My favorite is when she calls names 'ginny names' - I mean COME ON!!! FIRST OF ALL - that is SO nasty (kind of like the trailer park / Heather comment) but also, WE ARE ITALIAN!!!!! What is wrong with keeping in line with your heritage?!?!?

I also found that if I tell them names that I KNOW they will hate it is very funny (at least to me). For instance I like to finish this sentence for a girl's name 'Now featuring on the center pole is....' Sometimes I tell my family Bambi or I pick anothehr good stripper/porn star name For boy's I say Lucifer They have now stopped asking me.
But my stepmom complained to my sister that she hated all of my boy names too!

Thanks Christine!!! Everyone, including Joe, swears it's a , but I honestly don't think so. I'm not 100% sure, but I think I'm having a because I've been so emotional this whole pregnancy and I swear my nose got bigger (Joe thought so too, but nobody else thinks that, except my aunt who said my features changed)!!!

In the beginning when we were discussing names, he didn't like anything I picked, so I thought it would be a big ordeal, but thankfully he came around because Angelo is after his grandfather and Vincent (Vincenzo) is after mine!!!

My Irish mother doesn't like my 'guinea' names (Jenny, your mom would just love my names, huh? )!!! She wants a Patrick or Sean or Ryan or Erin or Megan or some other Irish name. Don't get me wrong, those names are all nice, but I'm the Italian daughter!!! My sister is the Irish one!!

Very interesting that you're divided. Vinnie & I both (along w/just about everyone else ... including Claud if you saw her post yesterday! ) think its a I definitely have changed ... check out Shamma's pics from the gtg ... my face is sooo fat!

So if we're wrong ... we're both in for a surprise! And we love the guinnea names too! But luckily ... we're all Italian except for MIL. And we picked the name she chose when she was PG with Vinnie if he would have been a girl ... so SHE'S happy. But honestly, we could've picked 'Rain' for our girls name & she'd be happy ... just so as we're having a girl!!!

Christine, LMAO!!! And I do not think your face is fat at all!! You looked absolutely beautiful and glowing!!! How many times have you been told that? I could be rich on that comment!!! I feel like my face (not to mention the rest of me) has blown up, but whatever!!! My belly popped yet again and my belly button is almost gone!! Oh the trauma!!

What is it about little girls??? My mother, MIL, his grandmother, my sister, EVERYBODY wants a girl!! And if it's a boy? They're setting themselves up for a big letdown, not that they won't love a boy as much, but you know what I mean!

That's why I say 'I'm having a BABY' and leave it at that!

As for my Irish mother, she cracks me up because not only did she marry a 'guinea', she married one OFF THE BOAT!!!
