My parents split up when I was 14 months old, my mom only had me, raised me herself and I want to dance with her to a song at the wedding.
I picked ' You Raise me up' By Josh Groban...BUT...There is special meaning to the song ' Because you loved me' by Celine Dion.
My Uncle (moms brother) had a big part in raising me as a father figure so to speak, and when that song came out years ago, I said that at my wedding I wanted to dance with him to that song because it reminded me of our relationship. Well, My uncle died in 1997 from Cancer.
Should I dance with my Mom to that song? We all have a special tie to the song since he has passed, but will that be too sad? And will it take away the meaning for my dance with my mom?

I say go with Celine Dion, especially if it has special meaning to you and your mom. And, in a way, it will also be a tribute to your uncle (your mom's brother, I'm guessing?)
There won't be a dry eye in the house...

go with the Celine Dion Song - it will not take away from the dance with your mother, it will only make it more meaningful.

I haven't read through the responses yet so I apologize if someone already suggested this:
how about dancing with your mom to both...I'd suggest the Josh Groban song as the mother-bride song - dedicated to her. Then the Celine Dion song dedicated to your uncle but dance with your mom.

Celine Dion. Maybe you can ask the Dj to make an announcement- along the lines of The bride and her mother are dancing to a special song in light of Uncle....... who is with us today in spirit and in our hearts. Just a suggestion?????
