ok, so since were on that topic, i wanted to ask about CPs for tables...
for those of u who had or are having afternoon events not at a huge place, jus at a restaurant (in other words not as fancy/formal) what are u doing for decorations, CPs, etc?
my mom got a congratulations banner that shes going to hang in front of the gift table, shes getting a bunch of balloons to put around the room, and as of right now, she wants to get those honeycomb tissue like CP things that stand...ill try to include a link to a pic of what i mean....
i dunno how i feel about them, but i dont wanna hurt her feelings cuz she wants to plan/decorate it. sooooo i jus wanted to see if u all think this is nice enough/acceptable for an afternoon event at a restaurant for 60 ppl?? i dont wanna make an issue of it if it shouldnt be
also, the advice card, and favors have a stand thing so they will all be displayed on each place setting, dressing up the table a bit too
sorry i am not a big help...the inn @ nhp was decorated for xmas when we had ours so our room looked beautiful and we didnt wanna change the decorations...
i dont think the bells are bad...they are a pretty standard e-party decor...but if you don't like them than maybe get some small flowers or somethinf for the tables?!

Re: another E-Party question
i think it will be fine, its not the wedding its the e-party so if it makes your mom happy i don't think its going to be bad. Where are you having the eparty?? People are just going to be all excited about being there that probably won't even notice. If there really bothering you, you can just have some by the gift table??

Re: another E-Party question
we're having it at papa joe's restaurant in deer park...its really not going to be fancy/formal, so i dont think it will be tooooo inappropriate, but i just think i was expecting her to do something floral
but also, she is paying for SO MUCH of the wedding, like over 30K so i almost feel bad expecting her to do floral arrangements at the e-party and spend another thousand, u kno??
so if u girls think its fine for an afternoon, small, non formal affair, then i will move onnnnn!!!!!!! lol

I think they are fine. I am just having balloons, a banner and maybe some small flower arrangement things around the room.

Re: another E-Party question
i made our floral centerpieces. i bought that floral styrofoam from a.c.moore or michaels (forgot which one) and then went to a bodega an dbought a bunch of bouquets of flowers. i cute them up and stuck them in....let me see if i have a pic to explain.
i think balloons or fine. its really just the e-party. the wedding is the big deal.
but really -- the floral things i made cost me like $30 to make 13 of them...mabye less...and people got to take it home.
let me find a pic....

I think they are fine. I think we are just doing small floral centerpieces - something simple - yellow and white daisies in cylindrical vases.

Thanks everyone!!
and little j, i didnt even think of doing something like what u suggested....so i may suggest doing something like that...
and even if my mom is set on those bells for whatever reason, i will suggest the DIY flowers for the gift table, the table w/the signing board, and the cake table
so a few floral touches to appease my need for flora!!! LOL

Re: another E-Party question
ok. so these pics arent the greatest and let me first explain....our 'theme' was POP...so the invites had a poem about popping the question....and then for favors we gave out ring pops....and the place cards were tied to a microwaveable bag of popcorn. a bit corny. but EASY to do
anyway, i found these little popcorn favor holders in the $1 store and bought them. then i got a plastic cup, filled it with the styrofoam, wet it, cut and places flowers. then took some tissue paper and wrapped it around the cup and placed it in the popcorn holder.
the other table decor was glass rocks that we sprinkled about. got those for cheap too. and then only the table that FH, I and the BP was at had a balloon centerpiece. i forgot what it was though. FH took care of that.
it was really cheap and easy. lots of ppl took the flowers home. i know my sister took a few and they lasted in the styrofoam looking good for about a week! i was shocked!
oh, also FH made an 'advise/wishes' box and tied a pen to it with string.
I love the idea of a small elegant floral CP. We're prob just going to buy a couple of bouquets of flowers and divide them between fish-bowls for each table, this way its low and not overwhelming

Re: another E-Party question
That should be fine. We are having Balloon CPs at our engagement party in March. My biggest word of advice is to choose your battles. I agree with what some of the other girls have said about people really not paying attention to those details and if it really means something to you than add what you want on but keep your mom's idea's as well.

Blow up some pics of you and FH to about 8x11, frame them in some inexpensive nice frames and put a small votive in front of it. We did that and it was a conversation started. Also, I went to ikea, bought tubular vases, got a a dozen white flowers (I forgot the name) and peacock feathers and made my own centerpieces. We alternated the pics and vases. It was a really inexpensive nice touch.

Re: another E-Party question
another inexpensive idea is candles. ask the restaurant if you can have candles. that is easy and pretty looking!!!
idk. not to be rude. but im not feeling the paper thingy. i saw those at party city and it reminded me of decorations in school. sorry. i know your mom is just trying to help tho (which is more than my mom got involved!!), so that is good

Re: another E-Party question
Doing a Saturday night eparty. We are not decorating. Since my sisters wedding was there in August, the room is freshly painted and honestly, I just don't want to spend any more money on this than we ( and my parents) already have. There will be bud vases on the tables. That's good enough.

Re: another E-Party question
its an afternoon eparty i woudlnt do those accordian honeycomb decorations.. low floral centerpieces would look great..in my opinion..not even big ones..a few hot colored carnations in small vasses placed infront of every 3-4 guests sould look nice. Less is more..
get the shiney confetti shaped as diamond rings to sprinkle on the tables
and to make the tables look full and festive.. place the favors in frton of each setting

Re: another E-Party question
im honestly not a fan of typical theme party decorations, like the big 5-0 or sweet sixteen, things like that.
we had our eparty in my parents backyard over the summer and i did all the decorations myself with the help of my mom and sister. we did DIY centerpieces, ordered the flowers wholesale and assembled them the night before the party. we also did a photo table that was supposed to be the gift table but people kept looking at the pictures and moving the gifts to the floor.. no biggie. instead of an advice box we got a signing board frame and put a picture of us in it, people wrote little things on it and we can put it somewhere in our house when we get married. i love it! heres some pics. (our theme was black white and red) ETA: we also put tea lights on the tables bc our party started at 4 and went into the night time. my bro lit them all when it got dark and it looked so pretty!
