Okay just to catch you up. I am on my 2nd E-ring because the 1st one had loose stones on the sides. My jewler was so awesome and made me a brand new ring that I wanted, and gave us a matching wedding band as a peace offering. I've had it about 2 months, now guess what, today I noticed my center stone loose! What do I do now? I am so upset, its princess cut, any chance they can do 6 prongs on that cut? HELP

Yeah that sounds very strange, I hit and slam my left hand all the time and my center stone never came loose. Make sure you use a reputable jeweler, I recommend Good Old Gold in Massapequa.

unless you really banged your ring hard that should not happen especially after only 2 months.....maybe you should try a different jeweler?

i got my ering from the same place, and i'm pretty rough w/ banging it up, and my stone is very secure, also a princess cut. maybe you should try having it repaired at a different jeweler.

I agree, and the crazy thing is that I don't even wear it all the time! I take it off to go to my 2nd job, which is waitressing. So this should never happen! I never even banged it. If I have to go to this jewler one more time I will go crazy. I am sick of seeing their faces. I told FH to forget my E-ring lets get our money back and I'll wear my wedding band everyday. He said no.

My center stone has come loose - I just had them tighten the prongs... I am very rough with my ring.
I also recommend Good Old Gold - they are beyond helpful.

Mine is princess cut, and i'm pretty rough with it, but luckily i've never had a problem, but that happened to a girl I work with, also a princess cut diamond. Her jeweler made the prongs thicker and now she doesn't have a problem.

I have an emerald, and its come loose before. One good bang in the right (or wrong) spot can shake it loose. Part of the problem I've heard with princess stones is that the sharp corners dont always sit well in the prong setting. Ask your jeweler if there is anything that can be done...I havent seen a 6-prong setting for a princess though.

I too have a princess cut center stone.. and I've had to go back to the jeweler to get it tightened once b/c I banged it pretty good.
He said to always be careful with it b/c they tend to become loose more than the other cuts. (I'm assuming it is because of the corners..)

It just p*sses me off that FH spent over 10g's for a ring I have to be careful with. I don't even wear the damned thing every day. Give me a break! I am so tempted to just return it!

I try to take extra good care of it because it's my engagement ring. If you don't want to be careful with it - maybe you should return it and spend less on it.

Agreed. Or at least take it somewhere else and get the prongs fixed.

Well, honestly, I have a 2nd job to help pay for the wedding, which I work there 5 days a week so I honestly only wear my ring on the days I am off from there. So I am wearing my ring like 3 days a week. So it's crazy that this is even happening to me. Not that I don't want to be careful, but what else can I do? I have never banged it or dropped it, and I'm a Admin so when I do wear it to this job, there are no circimstances that hurt my ring. I'm just annoyed that I have to be bothered again!! I really should go somehere else to fix it, but I will inform them first that we bought a piece of crap from them! (sorry had to vent!)

Re: Another E-ring dilema!
Hey guys! I have a princess cut also. When FH purchased my ring, he made sure that it was certified, and also purchased another lifetime insurance plan through the store. I can go into the store when ever I want to get it cleaned and checked. If by any chance I so happen to lose any stone (god forbid), they would replace it with a similar stone of the same carat, color, and clarity. My ring is engraved with a serial number so they can always find something similar. I just thought it was a good idea to have. Did anyone else get this same service?

I sleep with my ring every night, wash it with a small brush, etc and my stone has never budged an inch. It does have a 6 prong setting, but still.
It sounds like it might be a problem with the jeweler since this has happened twice. I'd say take it to someone else.

We also made sure to get a certified stone, but we insured it through State Farm.
