i would really like for all my bridesmaids to get their hair done, however i know that a lot of them are on a tight budget and some of them may tell me to go to he!! for telling them that they have to. unfortunatly i cant afford to pay for their hair either. Should i tell them to get their hair done or leave it as an option? thanks.

Re: another etiquette ? (about bm's)
What about paying half? As part of their gift?

agreed....that is the right thing to do
What I did is left it up to my girls if they wanted to get their hair or makeup done and if they were going to , I gave them $40 each to help with the cost

Re: another etiquette ? (about bm's)
I gave each of my BM a $50 gift certificate as part of their BM present to help offset the cost of getting their hair done.
If you are insistent on them getting their hair done then I think you should offer to at least help them pay for it.

I agree. You can't tell them that they have to do it and then not pay for it.

Maybe you can just keep the style you want down to a simple one so maybe they could do it themselves. If they can't then they'll have to get it done. Or maybe you can give them all a gift cert for a small amount for their hair that way they see that you realize they are on tight budgets.

That is a nice idea!

I told my girls if they wanted to get their hair done to let me know so I could make the appointment for them. I didn't force any of them to do it.

It's a tough situation, but I agree that you can't make them get their hair done. I have no hair skills whatsoever, so I always opt to have my hair done for any wedding, but I have friends who do their own just as good as any salon. Maybe you could do something like that?

You could get them all $20 gift certificates to the hair place as part of their bridal party gifts. That way you're helping them out a little and they'll be more likely to go.

I agree, if you tell them that they HAVE to get their hair done then you need to either pay for it or half of it...If all your girls have absolutely no problem paying for it and wouldn't get mad then that is different.

Re: another etiquette ? (about bm's)
This was a huge problem at my BF's wedding in June, and she had 12 girls!!! I also see where you are coming from.... my BF did too. I would either pay for it as their gift, and maybe get them something small to give them at the rehersal dinner....
Another idea that my mother gave me, which I am thinking of is this: My hair dresser is my BFs sister who graduated from my HS by taking cosmetology there and now is employed in a nice salon (Kim at Perfect Balance... She is the BEST!!!) Alot of HS have cosmetology and I am thinking of going up to my school and seeing the girls in action, and hiring or 2 cheap for a flat fee to take care of my girls if getting hair done is a problem. I would never ask someone without seeing her work first, as shes probably either working in a salon or going to be. The Cosmetologist who teaches at my HS did this for one of the teachers who got married, and the girl did her BMs hair beautifully, for next to nothing!
It also depends if you have particular style in mind..

why not pay for their hair as their whole gift? that and maybe cheap bridesmaid jewelery? thats what im doing. im not gonna insist that they get their hair done and give them another burden in their hands.
