So I'm trying to not get myself crazed yet but when my mom spoke with her aunt for Christmas she told my mom how one of my cousin's finally proposed to his girlfriend (they've been together about 10 years and have a little boy). My mom asked when they were getting married and my Aunt said 'i think the end of oct'. I think from my mom's reaction was when my aunt remembered that my wedding is the end of oct so she said 'maybe i'm thinking of Chris and Jenn's wedding'. I'm so happy for my cousin but...... if it is the same weekend I know part of the family would be with them and I would miss them. Is this happened to anyone or anyone know anyone.

Re: Another family member's wedding....
I have a cousin who is getting married three weeks before us. A lot of our family members need to travel from far and wide to get to either wedding, most won't be able to do both weddings.
I have to say that me and My FH are the 'bad guys' in that we booked our date after my cousin and his fiance. We didn't have much of a choice since we couldn't afford a summer wedding or to get married earlier in the year. I figured that people will do what's best for them, I know they would like to go to both but it's a big expense. We just tell them that they will be missed but there are no hard feelings, we understand.
What's probably keeping me sane is that there are A LOT of friends that we could not invite because family comes first, so if a good number of my family says no... we can invite our friends. Kind of like having our cake and eating it too! And my cousin doesn't mind at all.

Re: Another family member's wedding....
That would be totally wrong if they did that. You should call your cousin... I'm sure she wouldn't want to have a smaller guest list just like you wouldn't. If they just got engaged I'm sure they haven't booked anything yet.

We didn't do STD's but I actually did write in my Aunt's (my cousin's mom) christmas card what the date was! I just emailed my cousin's girlfriend this morning so i'm waiting to see if they've planned anything.

Well if they just got engaged and don't have a specific reason to have that date, I hope that they will be flexible. . but I hope even more that she was just confused and meant your wedding. . I could totally see that..

Re: Another family member's wedding....
I am also the 'bad guy' and booked my wedding two weeks before my cousin's wedding ( we did get engaged the same week, but she really was first) , but for both of us all of the people who are important to us live around here so that isnt a big deal , and my cousin isnt even inviting a lot of the oot people that I am inviting because they are being strickter (is that a word?) with the guest list numbers. It is actually a lot of fun planning things together! It wouldnt be cool if it was the same weekend though!

Wow, that would REALLY be wrong. I wouldn't mind a couple of weeks difference, but the same weekend would be really messed up! I hope everything works out and keep us posted.

Re: Another family member's wedding....
Don't you LOVE when that happens? FMIL's first or second cousin, I don't even know, but her daughter is getting married the weekend before us in FL, and has already sent out E-STDs. You would think that's far removed enough family wise that it wouldn't even affect us, but not with this clan. I wouldn't be surprised if all the OOT guests from that side of family don't attend ours now.

Re: Another family member's wedding....
Since I got engaged and picked my bridal party three out of five bridesmaids have gotten engaged and picked dates. One I knew would be getting engaged and after throwing around the idea of the same month she decided to go for the following year for financial reasons.
Then my cousin got engaged. She thinks it would be a good idea to get married the week before me or the week after me. She is thinking this would be good for family travel plans (she lives in Ohio and our extended family is in California and Texas).
Now the most interesting part....my 19 year old sister, after dating someone for six months, announced she'd be getting married in Vegas in January. As in next month. Of course my parents freaked and they are now talking her into holding off for six months and including the family.
