Another Favor Q - How do you know how many to order?

Sorry to bombard with favor questions...

For those of you ordering in advance, how do you know how many to order??? I feel like I want to order now bc I found the item for a good price. We promised 200 at our RH, and we are doing a favor per couple, would I be OK ordering 100??

TIA!

I'd hold off. Do you really want to be stuck with 20 extra favors? Order in August or Sept when you have a better idea about your final number!

they say that you should order as many favors as invitations that you are sending out. HTH!

I just decided to do a wine stopper and bottle of wine. I emailed Lauretta, but her price for the capp set was higher than what I found online. I think she wanted $9 . Thank you for the recommendation though!

It depends on what your favor is. I'd say wait as much as you can, if your favor allows it, because you don't want to get stuck with too many extras.

We are doing one per couple (they are doubling as placecards) and we made up a list of how many the absolute max would be. for us it was something like 203? Keep in mind this is probably not going to be the same number as the number of invitations. (ex: my aunt and cousins got one invitation, but will be three placecard/favors)

We ordered enough supplies for 200 favors, and made 170 (a ballpark estimate). The boxes we ordered came in packs of either 50 or 100 and the wrapping was one big roll, so we couldn't really order any less than what we did. We estimated how much chocolate we would need, but we can always run to CVS and buy more if we have to. We should have extras, but we might give them to people to bring home for their kids, or to my grandma's friends, or whoever. The extra chocolate will get eaten, and the extra ribbon will be used for other things

if your favors dont require much prep or are pricey, it's probably better to wait

Will you be giving a favor to guests who don't come to your wedding but give a gift anyway?

You can't really use the 'half' rule for favors. I have a lot of guests coming alone or with kids, which messes up the actual number of guests coming versus the favor equation big time! I printed my labels on a sheet of printer paper and have been highlighting the yes responses as they come in. I've then been writing the number of guests coming on that ONE response next to their label. When I had to give my final number for favors, I counted my yes responses and counted the ones I didn't get but am almost 100% positive will say yes and added that to the number. I then added a few more to overestimate for the people who may send gifts that are not invited to the wedding. All in all, we ordered about 20 more than we needed...I'd rather be over than under. HTH!

Thanks for starting this thread, I was actually just about to start this topic

I just ordered my favors this weekend, and we're doubling the favors as placecards as well. We're sending out 170 invitations, but we ordered 200 favors. We have two weeks to change the quantity and we don't have to order in certain increments...So do you think 200 is too much? We had to guarantee 220 at the RH.
