Hi ladies! I'm trying to do my hotel block so I can send some info out with my STDs. For those of you that blocked rooms already, did you meet with a hotel manager and see any rooms before you blocked or did you just block over the phone? I don't have a hotel attached to my RH (Thatched Cottage). Aside from discounts, shuttle and complimentary breakfast (honestly, I look for a comp breakfast in a hotel lol), are there any questions I should ask?
So far I'm thinking the Fairfield Inn in Syosset. I'm not from that area, but it seems like all of the hotels are a good 20 minutes away from my RH. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Another Hotel Block Question
I have been meeting with the hotel manager and seeing rooms. I don't want to be embarrassed when my friends and family show up to the hotel and there's like a lumpy bed, gunshot holes in the wallpaper, and a bath that looks like it's made of mold.
I also asked about a bar. Since our wedding is in the afternoon, I can imagine our friends will want to party afterward. So we wanted to make sure there was a bar that we could spend the evening in.

Another Hotel Block Question
I went to the hotel and met with the sales manager. I wanted to see the hotel and rooms before I blocked rooms off.
I also made sure to ask about the bar for after the reception!

Another Hotel Block Question
i just showed up to the hotel and asked for a manager- they showed me a couple of rooms, told me the block off rate and the policy of how many rooms i need to book, gave me info about the bar and how late it stays open, gave me info about hosting a breakfast, and that was it really- you can just show up and ask to speak to someone, it's pretty quick

Thanks ladies! Hopefully I can get this done soon. I love crossing things off the to-do list.

Another Hotel Block Question
I've talked with a few on the phone, but I would def go there before signing a contract. Another question to keep in mind is if there are financial obligations to you if one or more of the rooms you blocked aren't booked. That's a major one for me since its so far away and hard to get an exact number of who wants to stay next year, I wanted to make sure I didn't have to pay a fee or for the unbooked rooms.

I did everything over the phone and had no issues so far. Then again I have been in that hotel before so I knew it was nice.

Another Hotel Block Question
I did the block over the phone and just e-mailed them back the Contract. I made sure I called the Sales Manager to make sure she received it and that there were no issues at all.

Another Hotel Block Question
I went to the hotels to look at the rooms first, then met with the sales manager.
