another hypothetical...?

another hypothetical...?

ok - another office discussion - its been a good week here...

if someone proposes to you in a grandoise way - and you dont want to marry that person - do you say yes to make them initially happy and than tell them no later - or say no right off the bat and look like a heartless b!tch forever....
ex - if you get proposed to @ a baseball game - or something huge that took alot of planning....

i said it would depend on why i wouldnt want to marry this person. i dont think i would ever want to get married again if me & my dh didnt work out - so if another man asked me and i just didnt want too - i would probably say yes and than tell him no and reasons later. but if he was just a total creepo who was toxic for me - than a flat out NO.

what would you do?

Honestly, I can't imagine receiving a proposal from someone and saying no. If I was in a relationship where I felt I had to say no to a proposal, why am I in that relationship? If I didn't ever want to re-marry, then the person I am dating should already know that.

Ok, now back to your question. LOL

To help him save face, I was smile and nod yes. Then I would talk to him privately. But I can not imagine being in this situation.

Anyone who knew me well enough to go out and buy a ring would know that I'd cover my face and run away from such a proposal (if it were done in a public place) or recoil if it were done in this grandoise way.

So my reaction to the public proposal would be to run out of where ever we were. And say no in private.
Or just no to the staged one.

Because to say yes and then say no - only makes it worse for him.

omg, I would run away.

I hate grandiose things like that. I hate people look at me. I hate being the center of attention. I am low key.

I would run away if Vic did that to me. Not that he ever would. But I would jet.

I agree with this. If I didn't want to marry Kevin I wouldn't have stayed in a relationship with him.

As for your question tho, I would say no right off the bat. I think to hear yes and then be told no would be far worse.
