Another Invite Question

Another Invite Question

FH and I fell in love with an invitation however, it's not PERFECT so I'm hoping you ladies can help me.

The invite has a deckled edge. We both hate this. It's not a bad look, it just doesn't work for what we want. We want to mount the invite into a pocket fold and i just don't think the edge would look right. PLUS it's a little too big to mount but if we cut it and got rid of the edge it'd fit...

Do you think it'd be a waste of money to order invites, and then cut them to fit what we want?
Some people have said it's a waste of money, and to just print our own... which i'm sure we could do...but we're in love with the thermograph printing...

You can't do that (raised printing) on your own right?

I don't think you can do the raised printing yourself...BUT an idea may be to go to a printshop....like Sir Speedy or something like that. See if they can print up the invite the way you want it... It certainly can't hurt to get a sample of the one you LOVE and bring it to them and see what they can do with it....

That's what i meant. I mean, i know MY printer can't do it. But i didn't know if 'print shops' still existed or if they can print something you design....

i hafta look into this..

hmm i dunno about this one....u def cant print your own and get the raised lettering...but can u find other invites u like with the raised lettering but that u wont need to cut? bc i feel like that would suck to spend money on invites but need to cut them..im sure if u keep looking u can find better ones

I can't promise you this will work - but you can try calling Fantastic Impressions: now located at:
300 Route 109
W. Babylon, NY 11704
Customer Service: 631-669-3400
Fax: 631-669-1222

I worked there a VERY long time ago...they do a lot of work for places like Sir Speedy and other print shops. They DEFINITELY do the raised printing and it can't hurt to call them and see if they can do it for you.... You can mention my name and see if it helps!!!

The reason I suggested Sir Speedy is because I know Fantastic used to do a lot of work for them and they definitely did invites...but any print shop maybe able to do the raised printing...and i'd think it would be DRAMATICALLY cheaper than an invite place!

the thing is... they fit what we were looking for except for the size and the deckled edge.
i havent found anything similar...
this is them...

I did ask a Graphic Artist friend (our BM) to work on the mongram section and maybe change the unicorn to a zebra (inside thing with me and FH)
if we can have the design printed somewhere else with the thermograph lettering then that's what we'll do.

i'm worried about spending the money and then having to cut them too. but it's less than $80 for 100 so they are reasonably priced...

Re: Another Invite Question

Fantastic and BCE will not print anything to a person who is not a business or listed wholesaler and if they do they can get into some deep poop.

Typically raised printing you can not do at home but there are people who talk about this powder that works but honestly I have never seen it or know if it really exists.

If you like a particular style but not the edging then i suggest you find a cheap graphic designer and show the what you want. Otherwise if you want - spend the money and get the raised printing with the envelopes, etc and then cut them because it will be probably cheaper then having a graphic designer do their job then outsource it to a local print shop.

I have a graphic designer who is working on the design... i just don't think he has a business license or anything to outsource it. I don't have to pay for his services, only the printing so i'm not sure which way would be cheaper...

the only way to get the raised text is to get thermography printing.

You can sit there with a paper cutter and cut off the deckled edges if you got some time to kill- haha

I don't even know what a Mom and Pop print shop would be!
We had one around the block from my parent's house but it has since turned into an Indian market.
Any suggestions?
I just ordered my pocketfolds... without ordering a sample lol so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Re: Another Invite Question

there is at least one print shop per town or every other town. Pip printing, Minuteman press are chains then usually some other places that were once a pip or minuteman that dropped the franchise. The phone book should have a list of them.
