another 'invite wording' question

another 'invite wording' question

We are having both the ceremony and reception at the Carlyle, so originally we had put 'Reception immediately following ceremony' at the bottom of the invite.
Then my mom (who's in Boston) pointed out to me that a lot of people don't expect a cocktail hour as thats not too common outside NY (i have no idea if this is true or not) and that we should change the wording to - 'Cocktails and Reception immediately following Ceremony' so that people would know what to expect.

Does this make sense? What do you think?

TIA!

I think you should leave it the way it is. If your mom is very concerned about people being so confused, then perhaps you could have her let them know by word of mouth...but I think you need to give your guests a bit more credit.

I don't think that there is any way you could clarify it anyway...if someone is going to be confused by 'reception immediately following' they will most likely interpret 'cocktails...' in the same manner.

It makes sense and sounds nice..... the CH is a part of the reception, so I think either way will be appropriate.
