Another Makeup Vent (long sorry)

Another Makeup Vent (long sorry)

Ok, I need to know what you all think. I have been looking for a makeup artist and have been going for a lot of trials. Some of the places have said just let us know within 2 weeks of the wedding if you don't want our services. I went to one salon (I will keep the name to myself) and I paid to be made up and my hair done. About a week later I went back because I liked some of the products and wanted to buy them. Also, the night I had my trials not only did I pay for the makeover and hair but I also bought some makeup plus that makeup that I went back to buy.

I finally did find someone to do my hair and makeup and called to cancel all of the people that I had tentative plans with. The salon I spoke of above called me back and wanted to know why I was cancelling. They then had the makeup artist call me personally to ask me why and she left a message for me at work.

Of course now I feel a little angry like I am being harrassed but also feel like I did something wrong (because that is me, always taking something personally).

Also, I wanted people to come to my house the day of and to do it in the house they were costing 475 dollars for my hair and makeup and if I had about 5 of the moh/bm/s grandmothers etc it was over 1200 dollars. I thought that the amount was absurd!!!

To go to the salon it was like 40 dollars and 50 dollars for the hair, some mark up that is!!!!

Please tell me if I should be feeling bad. I think I have a right to hire the person I want without pressure.

Thanks for letting me vent

Your last thought says it all - it is your choice - the end!

I don't think it was right for them to call you like that after you cancelled. I would have been annoyed too. Vent to us and then blow it off. Don't let them stress you out.

Please DO NOT feel bad. This is your wedding and your choice!! You don't have to hire someone that does not suit your needs. I wouldn't even call them back.

Yeah, really, don't feel bad at all. You changed your mind, that's all they need to know. If they call back, tell them that such poor customer service will not help them gain more customers, and to please stop bothering you before you tell your friends of your bad experience.

Don't worry about it. It is your choice to pick who you feel comfortable with and also who is affordable to you. I am also the kind to take things personal, but this is absolutely YOUR choice and I wouldn't worry about it.
That price that you said is really high. You can defintely find someone else alot less than that who will do an excellent job.

Good Luck sweetie.

Don't feel bad, its your day, your decision, and your $$

I agree with Marcela, no need to call them back.

That's it! You said it! It is YOUR RIGHT to do whatever it is you want!!! Apparantly, you went with the right choice NOT to go with the salon you mentioned - they seem to be VERY money hungry and that's it! Good choice!

Good luck with everything else! And DON'T you dare feel guilty!!!

Definitely do not feel bad. It's 100% your decision - it's your day. Honestly - if these people are harassing you now, would you really want to deal with them on your wedding day??

Do not take it personal. Your the one paying and you can do whatever you want. They shouldn't need to call you and ask why. All they need to know is that your cancelling and thats that. Don't feel bad, do what you have to do.

I would never deal with anyone or place under those circumstances! You did not sign a contract therefore, you do not owe them anything Don't let them pressure you into anything. I'm glad you found someone that you're happy with ... otherwise you'd be stressing it. Go with them guilt free & if you need any other suggestions for makeup ... the woman I found was very good ... comes to the house ... fairly reasonable ... works with a hairdresser who also comes & does not charge an arm & a leg!

Be strong! Good luck

I can understand them asking you why you are cancelling- as a way of understanding how to better serve brides, but to have people calling you at WORK. Call these people and tell them to never call you again.

P.S. I cancelled 2 hair/makeup people before finally being happy with JN and Ciro. I never felt bad. I gave them all fair notice.

You have nothing to feel sorry about. You made your decision according to your feelings. I didnt do that and I was NOT happy with the girl who did my hair at all. I didnt canel her because I didnt have time to go to another trial elsewhere. My point is that I had that feeling about using her. You made the right decision. Next time they call, let them know that you dont have time to get into it and have a nice day.
