I just heard on News Channel 12 that Vina de Villa Caterers on Route 112 in Medford closed. What is going on?!?!

Not a surprise since it says they were the same owners of Manor East which I think closed without notice a few months ago. Hope there weren't any big events coming up for anyone there.

I went and looked ay that place and the guy said he wasn't linked to manor east but he knew the owners personally and took on some business to try to help them out. the guy that sat with us was weird my fh hated the place the menu was good and the place was ok to me I could have lived with it but luckily we kept looking! my thing was he was doing sui much for us right of the bat, throwing in all types of stuff...fh said he sounds desperate.... guess he was right! I don't want to tell him that though lmao

I heard that halls are closed because they were not sharing the ++ with the wait staff. apparently halls were asked to pay back the staff and some of them would rather close than pay employees. I am unsure how much truth there is to this however if it is true it makes me sick.

yea that's really terrible. Especially considering how much you pay per plate.

I'm sorry for anyone that was booked there, but it's no great loss. When to a wedding there this summer and the food and service were terrible. Bathrooms were gross, looked like no one cleaned them in weeks and you can see right into the men's room from 2 of the tables. Valet's and parking situation was terribe.

This is my biggest fear with planning so far out. I know I am using well known vendors, but I still worry. It happens so often that places just up and cloes, especially in this economy.

My best friend actually booked there for next November and lost their deposit. I'm grateful thry didnt put a lot of money down. It was a budget place anyway

oh I'm sorry your friend lost her money! there is the Mediterranean manor right down the road that does the same thing, if she needs a place.... there's a ton! I'm going with one! I was going to settle for thatplace bc thier package was a little cheaper.. thank God fh had a bad feeling about it! -

that's why I stayed away from places like that. not that I have this huge high budget but I rather spend more money and have the security of knowing my place isn't going anywhere. usually if a place is getting rundown etc it means they don't have money.... if a place is adding more to it, renovating it usually means they are doing well. at least that's my dad's logic and he's in the catering business lol.

my bff had looked at the place in Massapequa that closed also, after I told her not to btw lol but yeah she was like omg it was so run down. I was like I bet you it'll close soon. luckily she didn't book there because it closed shortly after she looked at it.

This is the same logic we used, it is just a little unsettling.

you can buy wedding insurance for this reason also and it's cheap compared to what you can lose. And it covers all your vendors.

I went to this place for a sweet 16 like over 10 years ago and it was pretty run down looking then.
