How many placesettings did you register for (fine china)?

I don't have a big family and just a close circle of friends so I only asked for 8. I got them all though!

0 for me too. Don't host any dinners and don't see the point of having my family pay for something just to have on display.

Sorry, girls. I started the poll with 8 because yesterday I registered for 15, changed it to 14 to be even, and now I'm thinking of knocking it down to 12. But I'm not sure what the norm is, or if 14 is wierd.

I haven't decided between 8 and 12.... We don't necessarily host a ton of sit down dinners now (though part of that was until now we didn't really have the space in our place). But, I love china. I will use it for sure -- I believe in using it if you have it!! I love to set a really pretty table for company.

I did 12- and I got it all from my FMIL
I might not use it this year- but I will use it in the future

no, I will use plain white dishes which will be ok
or if I host x-mas- I will take my Mother's spode ( the x-mass tree plates)

I registered for 14. The people at BBB recommended 14 (I think b/c if any break, you have a replacement-also it's good if you have more than 12 people over for dinner). I got all 14 of our settings and if we decide we don't want 14, we can return 2 and either buy something else off the registry or get cash back. It doesn't hurt to register for 14. If you get them all, that's great and if you decide you'd rather have 12, just return them.

True, I can leave my 14. I just didn't know if it was a wierd number.

And I realize that I must be a lucky girl, if my biggest problem is that I don't know how many pieces of china to put on my registry!
