I was just wondering how we should word our invitations. I tried to look it up but I can't really find anything that fits our situation....
My fiance and I are paying for 50% of the wedding and my parents are paying for the other 50%. I know traditionally we would put:
Mr. and Mrs. Smith request the honor of your presence to the marriage of their daughter (something along those lines)
Jane Smith
to
John Dough son of Mr. and Mrs. Dough
But that is basically saying my parents are paying for the whole thing right? Not that its a big deal... cause my parents are supper supportive and would pay for the whole thing if we really needed them to. Anyway, my fiance would do this, but at the same time feels like since we are contributing a lot maybe there is another way to word it?
I don't really like 'Together with their parents' because his parents are not throwing the party....
Part of me thinks that nobody reads into the invitations anyway, so what's the big deal if we give my parents all the credit. But I just wanted to see if there was any other wording choices.
Sorry this is so long! Thanks for the help!!

Re: Another question about wording on an invitation
We used 'together with their families', and our choice of wording had absolutely nothing to do with who contributed what financially. Our families were just as excited about our wedding as we were, and very supportive of our relationship, so it seemed like the right choice.

Re: Another question about wording on an invitation
Grooms Name and Bride's name have chosen (date) as the first day of their new lives together as they are united in marriage.
Together, with Mr & Mrs Bride's Parents
they invite you to join them in this joyous ocassion
at (time) (place)
ETA: Not exactly.. but that's the jist of what you can say....
Or 'together with their families'

Thanks! And I know it should not matter at all.... I just feel like my parents, esp. my mom has been so supportive and into the whole wedding. So I just really want to give them a special tribute or something.

Hi everyone,

This is basically our financial situation as well...fh and I are paying a little more but anyway...we might just put our names cuz my parents wouldnt care really but I know that some would. We were originally thinking of wording as if we are hosting, but put our parents name on the bottom of the inviation somehow just to include them.

Re: Another question about wording on an invitation
Its hard to word without offending his parents or pointing out that they did not contribute... Maybe something like this would work...
On Thursday, the thirtieth of October two thousand ten Jennifer Ann O'Miley and Brad William Lester will be exchanging their wedding vows at six o'clock in the evening
The Immaculate Conception Church 445 West Harbor Avenue Lock Haven, Pennsylvania
Together with Mr. & Mrs. O'Miley they request the honor of your presence.
I think if its not as prominent in the beginning of the invite...it will be less offensive to anyone else.
