Another question for cross stitchers

Another question for cross stitchers

I've been trying to find a baby cross stitch for our new baby to be. I did one while I was preggo with Lukie and I want to do the same for this baby. I can't seem to find any kit I love. So my question is....does anyone have a place they shop that has a big selection or do you buy a pattern and get all the stuff separately? I've always bought kits but I'm thinking that maybe there will be more of a selection with just the pattern. Also...do they tell you the color and thread # to get with the pattern or do you judge it yourself? Like if there are 3 or 4 browns for the coloring of a bear, I would think it might be hard to pick for yourself the colors that will blend best.

Thanks!

the pattern instructions will definitely tell you exactly what color you need (DMC #) and how much of it. over the years i have collected a ton of cross stitch books and i think michael's has the best selection.

ETA - karen - that cross stitch is gorgeous!!!

Karen, your work is beautiful! I'm glad you were able to post a larger picture. The crystals give it an extra special touch.

I was looking at some patterns in the store today but nothing grabbed me. It was a small selection though.

Thanks, I'd love some ideas. I want a birth announcement that will be about 11x14 or thereabouts (before matting & framing) It would also need to be non-gender specific since I'll be working on it before he or she is born.

Here's the one I did for Luke:

How hard is it to cross-stitch? I know how to knit and scrapbook.. Is it really hard to do?

These are all stitched on linen, instead of the regular Aida cloth.

Thank you thank you thank you Karen
Those are all so pretty!!!!!

I think the Welcome Baby with the animals is my favorite. I also like the one with the toys on the shelf. Perfect!

How can I get those patterns?

I really appreciate your help
