Another question? This time about China(not the country):)

Did everyone order all of the pieces of their China? Like the platters, etc. I was just curious if this is a waste considering how expensive those pieces are. TIA AGAIN

I registered for all the pieces. I just let the girl at Fortunoff click away.

My FMIL already bought us all 12 place settings for our engagement party so the other pieces are all I need. I also received all 12 pasta bowls from FH's Aunt.

We put for 3 platters, 2 vege, the sugar and creamer and we had to do bowls b/c ours didn't come with them.

Even though they are a lot, people say to put them on someone will buy them! And if you have to buy them yourself you will get a discount

Bed, Bath & beyond ( where I registered)didn't have the serving peices, so FMIL bought us some as an engagment present & some for my birthday from either Macy's or Mikas.com.
It worked out well, since she wanted to get us something special, not from the registry.

I still want the butter dish , S& P shakers & the gravy boat

We felt bad registering for expensive china, so I bought a full 12 people china set from Mikasa (Cameo Platinum) when it was on sale, so we registered for all of the serving stuff.

We registered for everything except for the coffee pot. We even registerd for 2 medium sized platters and 2 vegetable bowls (plus the covered bowl).

When my sister got married last year she received all her china at her shower, except the covered veggie bowl which she ended up getting sent to her as a wedding gift.

I registered for all the pieces and as of now, all my place settings (12 of them) have been purchased off my registry.

I registered for everything and then my grandmother went out and bought the whole set but, not the exact one I registered for. She bought one she liked better ! I actually like it better too..

Just like most people we registered for everything except the coffee pot since in my opinion it is useless. Last weekend my FH's aunt surprised us with two place settings and the salt and pepper set for an engagement gift. How awesome! I swear I stare at it every minute I get.

I think that if you found a set that you really want then you should register for it - every piece that you could possibly use. If people want to get it they will and if not you'll get the discount at the end if you want to purchase it.

I registered for only what I thought I would use. My family is big on entertaining and using their china at holiday celebrations, so I actually registered for double of some of the service pieces like platters and bowls.

Yeah my family was like that too. My aunt researched patterns she liked better than mine...

I regustered for the serving platters and vegetable bowls but not for the tea pot and coffee pot an covered butter and salt and pepper

Re: Another question? This time about China(not the country):)

I registered for most of it. I didn't register for the coffee pot or soup tureen. I don't think that I would ever use them (and coffee better in a caraf/thermus). But I did register for the tea pot. I have a lot of tea drinkers on my side of the family.

I also mixed 2 patterns together. Most of my serving peices are a bit less expensive and the coordinate nicely (same manufacturer).
