another registry question

my wedding is in dec 06...but i'm dying to register! How soon before your wedding is it appropriate to register?

we registered over the summer.. so we did it about 8-9 monthys before

I know some people register right away because some people want to give you engagement gifts. I havent and woudl rather get $ for my e-party. I will register for my shower.

Register whenever you want! You don't even have to tell people that you've done it; then if they ask, you're registered, if they don't, they can find out where you're registered when they get your shower invitations.

We registered a few weeks after we got engaged (which worked out to about 9 months before the wedding). We're not having an engagement party, so people have started sending gifts. We've gotten mostly $$ so far, but a lot of people wanted to get us gifts (we need a lot of stuff, so that's fine by us), so I'm glad we're registered - much less likely to get ugly/useless gifts!

I registered three months after I got engaged.

I was hesistant to do it so quickly. I didn't want to seem like I was asking for presents, but FI family and even some of my co-workers wanted to get us something, so I gave in and registered. I am glad I did it.

I feel like there is not right or wrong time to register!

You can register when ever you want.

I am going to register in the month of October 13 months before my wedding.

I know my family and they will want to get me things for Christmas (and I wouldn't mind).

I think you are fine to register now if you really want to, just expect that some things may discontinue. We registered like TWO YEARS before (for our Engagement party) and only a few things were discontinued.

Register as soonas you announce it, only a few people know we're engaged and we recieved some gifts some that aren't our style, not to sound ungreatful or anything

We registered last November - over a year in advance. I was dying to do it and people kept asking where we were registered because they wanted to send engagement gifts so we went and did it. I don't think it's too early - just wait to do the bedding and towels because that changes pretty regularly.
