Another registry shaking of head moment...

Another registry shaking of head moment...

Well two things:

1. my shower invites went out last week and right away people started calling my aunts/grandma who are throwing it and me (*** .. what if it WAS a suprise people!) asking where I was registered.

apparently the registry info inserts didn't get put into MOST of the invitations.

2. my mom called the other day to ask me something about the registry and she said this...

'I knew you were registered at BBB but I haven't looked at it. Honestly I probably won't buy you something off it.'

...

Seriously? Your my mother. You make a registry because its what you want and what you need.

You seriously are not going to buy us something off the registry?

I have a feeling my guests aren't buying off my registry either. At this point I'm just laughing about it its too late to stress about it now.

My mother has been awful with the registry. When I registered, she looked at the items and told me to take about half of them off because she had already bought me those items. Each day she would call and say, take the pillows off, your dad just bought you some today, or don't register for wine glasses, I bought you some. Made me wonder why I registered for anything at all?

My mother also likes to 'shop in the attic' - meaning she gives you something she previously bought (usually an extra items she bought at an outlet because it was nice). She has told me that my brother will be 'shopping the attic' for my gift. Mind you, brother isn't even invited, she just wants to unload some of her extras.

On top of that, she also told me my dog (yes, he's giving a gift to ), didn't shop in the attic (I guess that was too many steps for him), and rather shopped in my closet(!) and found what she thinks is a Lenox vase I was going to give a former boss as a gift, but later changed my mind. This thing is so old, it was gift wrapped....from Fortunoffs.

So in 2010, I will have a Fortunoff's gift...from a dog. Top that.

i foresee my mom doing this but... HELLO...its a shower. you're supposed to give a present.

i want to be able to be like 'oh.. yeah... my mom gave us that.'

instead of 'oh here's that stack of money that used to exist back in the day .. .my mom added to it.'

SOMEONE HAS TO BUY OUR POTS AND PANS.

that would be a good thing for a MOM to buy.

c'mon MOM. do the right thing.

Please, some of my relatives told me flat out they weren't going to buy ANYTHING from the registry.

I know it's cheesy, but I need a new iron people!!!

my mom is horrible when it comes to registries. She refuses to buy anything off of them. She gets what she wants to get to person- whether they want it or not.

Re: Another registry shaking of head moment...

my mom didnt buy much off the registry.... besides splitting the party with FMIL, she made decoration baskets for all the seasons,
she bought me my 'china silverware' which was really my everyday silverware, and put that in a 'china silverware' box....
she tried.

FMIL bought a a vacuum which wasnt on the registry, and our bathroom stuff and hamper.... so that was really nice of her to do!!!!

I might be able to top my dog's gift....

My aunt just called me today to tell me she spent THIRTY minutes explaining to my 86 year old grandpa that for a bridal shower you buy a gift off the registry, NOT something random from.....drumroll.....Victoria's Secret.

I wouldn't mind terribly a VS gift card, but no way do I want him, or his wife, picking out lingerie for me!!!!
