Are you supposed to make up a list of people that you would like to have invited? Just so that nobody is forgotten?

I made up a list of my friends that I would like to invite to my shower and I gave it to my mom. I figure that family and very close friends of the family she would know who to invite.

It would be helpful, that's what I did and I gave it to my mom who did the invitiing.
