I can't find my mommy and I'd be SHOCKED if she went in!

I saw the kids walking to school in brooklyn..so i know they are open there at least

Open, of course!!! It actually brings back bad memories from my childhood when us city kids had to go to school when all of the suburbanites were home!!! So unfair!!!

they never close the schools. just once, i think in my own memory... blizzard in january of 96.

Nope, but my gem of a mother called me at 6:40 this morning to tell me that she wasn't driving in this sh*t and was taking the day off.

they never close the schools. just once, i think in my own memory... blizzard in january of 96.
Yup that was the one time I remember!!! Didn't matter to me, I was in college and we were still on our winter break!!! I miss out on everything!!

Yup that was the one time I remember!!! Didn't matter to me, I was in college and we were still on our winter break!!! I miss out on everything!!
I was a senior in HS in 96, and in a NYC public school, and I still look back at that blizzard as the best thing ever! It was like 3 days off, and I remember the day we were supposed to go back my friends and I went to homeroom and then left and went ice skating in Central Park....oh to be young again LOL

they closed for Hurricane Floyd in 1999...that was the only time they closed while I was teaching there...and of course I had no clue and went in to an empty parking lot.

NYC schools never close for snow LOL! I was supposed to go to a meeting today at St. John's University. They are closed today, so I just called in at my school and told them I wasn't coming in. The roads looked bad this morning, and a majority of the schools here in LI are closed!
