Another Spinoff: How much did you spend on Bridesmaid gifts?

How did you figure out how much you should spend?

Re: Another Spinoff: How much did you spend on Bridesmaid gifts?

I am going to add the hair into the calculation, even though my bridesmaids were pretty vocal in telling me that since it was MY wedding, it wasn't THEIR gift...I guess it was just something I was supposed to do:

Hair $70 each
14K gold earrings w/ garnets: $50 each
slippers with embroidered/beaded martini: $10
red satin/plastic handbag (token gift) $5
embroided initial sache and popourri: $20
My mom paid to have their shoes dyed: $20 each

$175 each for gifts and 'necessities'

Plus the bouquets were $85 each.

I wish I had a smaller bridal party Most of the girls didn't appreciate any of these things and actually felt that the hair, earrings, and shoes SHOULD have been taken care of by ME.

I am spending about $125-150 each for the girls and about $100 for the guys. I love buying stuff for other people!

Okay, that's what I didn't know, if the shoes, hair and makeup got factored in.....
It's for my sisters wedding..it's all family, all our cousins, and the Groom's sister....my mother bought all the shoes (some of my cousins are young, 11, 13, 15, and 19), and their hair and makeup is taken care of....and She got all of us sweat suits to wear to the bonfire (after party).....so she didn't know if she needed something else.....I'm think earrings, to match the dresses would be nice....is that enough?

If I remember correctly I think it was about $75-100 for the BM and about $150 for MOH.

I got the girls white gold diamond necklaces, MH also rec'd the matching earrings.

Every time I have been a BM, I paid for my own dress and shoes (including the dying). A couple of times the bride paid for my hair, but I did not expect it and offered to pay for it myself. However, the brides I was a BM for never required that I wear my hair a certain way and left it up to us what we wanted to do with our hair. Usually the gift was jewelry that we wore with our BM dresses, and in my opinion, that is certainly enough.

In my case, I spent over $100, but I only had a MOH, so that is more than I would have spent per BM. If I had BMs, I think I would have spent about $50 each. I just didn't have it in my budget to go much above that. I think what you are doing is definitely enough.

That's MORE than sufficient.

I spent a lot of money on my BMs.

- about $300 for the girls that I paid for their hair and makeup.

-$150 for the girls that i didnt pay for hair and makeup

and

-$450 for my MOH since i got her a different necklace

For half of them (3 girls) i paid for their hair and makeup since they were getting it done at my house (the other three wanted to get it done elsewhere) = $150

These pashmina shawls: $40

These earrings: $55

These necklaces: $59

Hmmm I guess theres more to factor in- ok I had a mexican themed bridal dinner party for them that cost me $600- I had it catered at my house and went all out with decorations and had all the girls their children, mothers, grandmothers, mothers of the young girls so I had about 30 at the house-
made them personalized pink shopping bags - roughly$ 3 a piece had 11 girls-put 'some' of their gifts in there-
20 each on necklace and earrings-
15 each on purses- on only the 7 girls not FG
15 each that I filled with olay lipstick, tissues, mints and oil blotting paper for the bags
for the flower girls 4 of them
10 each on their wands
15 each on their gloves

the bags were a HUGE HIT the girls used them on the wedding day and everyone knew whos was whos cause they were personalized-( they were the huge shopping totes)

ok bouquets 75 each
Paid for goddaughter/neice dress 140
then on RD was their big gift- we went all out again had it club Europa in chataeu briand- and gave the girls 7 adults Coach bags, the 2 littles girls 14k white gold diamond earrings, the other 2 14k white gold hanging heart bracelet with their initial ( like the ones you see at things remembered)
for the guys 14k white gold tie tacks the best man 14k gold and onyx cufflinks the ringbearer and engraved clock with a soccer ball and place to put his picture- - lets just say their RD gifts cost us over 2k ALONE-

Our BP were shocked and soooo happy and they are worth every penny- they were so happy and went out of their way for us with our bacheloret/ ette parties- they were just great didnt have to call anyone to remind them of anything- they were the best.

So with everything said and done easily spent about 5k on BP for 18 people though! ( not including cost of RD which was 2800.) ahhhh have to wait few more months for our bathroom remodel!!!

I only had my sister so I got her a 1/2 carat diamond pendant- 16 diamonds in a straight line for about $250. I loved it so much I want one for myself! I am also paying to have her hair done. Her best friend is doing our makeup as my wedding gift. I don't know how you girls do it with big wedding parties.

I tend to get carried away when buying gifts for people.... I will be paying for their hair the day of. probably about 75 each but i dont consider that part of their gift...
I am PRAYING to have a coach hookup where i can get anything coach for 50% off. this way i will be getting each girl a bag. i think i might just send them to the website and say tell me your 2 favorite bags and then pic one of them. we shall see. if not i will be getting their jewelry from swarovsky most likely and will spend about 200/bm and more for my MOH.

I wish I had a smaller bridal party Most of the girls didn't appreciate any of these things and actually felt that the hair, earrings, and shoes SHOULD have been taken care of by ME.

WHAT?! That's not very nice of them. I feel that was wonderful of you! I would have appreciated every bit of it. I think that when they said yes to being a bridesmaid, they should have expected to pay for their own hair and shoes and all that other stuff. After all, it is a privelage to be a bm!
