does anyone have any advice on how to word a thank you when one only one half of a couple comes to the party. I has my engegement party last weekend and am unsure how to word the thank you

Don't you think 'they' still contributed to the gift together? Or was it clear that just the person coming did it?
I would say something like:
Dear Joe and Jane, thank you for your generous gift of 1 million dollars.
Jane it was great seeing you at the party, I had a great time talking to you. Joe, sorry you couldn't make it, we missed you and hope to see you soon.

just to clarify... yes they both contributed to the gift I wasnt sure how to word the rest. thanks for the help! these are great anyone else?
