Another tipping question... but for real....

Another tipping question... but for real....

Ok, im really confused. Im not trying to sound cheap or ungreateful but I dont get all this tipping stuff here lately.

I am paying my hall $$$$$$$$ which INCLUDES tax and 20% grat. not fifteen. Why do I need to tip onto of the MANDATORY tip included in the price? Ok, bridaly attendant/Maitre D. what on earth do they do thats worth hundreds of dollars??!! Im actaully asking, not being a smaty a$$. Pics will be done beforehand so im eating with everyone else so your not serving me. I sure as heck wont be asking a stranger for help to go to the bathroom so really, what do they do?

DJ.... im paying a couple thousand for you to play music. I do not want an MC, actually, thats part of the deal, play music and keep quiet. Why do I tip you for doing what I payed you to do?

Photo- this I get. They are with you all day, Im on board here, really.

Limo- if the price includes tip, why top on top?

Flower delivery- again, this was charged in initial price... Mind you, if you have crazy centerpieces, I get the tip here too, but really, delivery charge is in the price.
I havent planned out my tips and frankly I wont. a tip is based on SPECIAL SERVICE. Why on earth would i allot $$$$ before the day when i dont even know how I will be treated.

Again, im really just curious here as I have strong opinions.... anyone who wants to give actually reasons why they disagree, Id love to hear them

Not trying to be pinching money /rude/cheap i just dont get it

this is the same point that i was trying to make with my family yesterday. if i am paying all these vendors & feeding some of them why do i have to give a tip too??? don't these people get a salary??

the MatriD i get, because they are suppose to run the whole reception for you. they are suppose to put out any fires that may occur. they are suppose to make sure your glass is full at all times. i believe they also oversee the setting up of your room to your specifications.

at work i get a salary. i don't get a tip for every letter i write pertaining to a clients case.

I am going to read each of my contracts and see what is says about tipping because this is getting out of control.

One thing to really take into consideration is whether the vendor owns the company or is an employee of the company. Someone like the DJ Asst, probably doesn't make the best of money so he relys on tipping. But someone like the makeup artist who owns their own company, i would tip just a little as a thank you for a good job

i think that most girls have a range.....like the maitre'd i have between $3-$5 pp depending on the job they do, i will bring enough for $5pp and decide towards the end of the night.....i'm going to have enough for the high end of my budget.

Anyone know about the Bridal Attendent? How much should they get tipped? I have a DOC so I dont even think I need a Bridal Attendent.

Also, what the 20% grat. at all the hall usually include?

I've decided to just give everyone a cookie. I'm broke. My shoe collection is already struggling and I am over it. Someone tip me for being a bride damn it... its hard work.

The 20% goes to the waitstaff and other staff members of the reception hall.

I think maybe you should contact the RH before your wedding and ask to not have a bridal attendant, because on that day there will be a abridal attendant there willing to do her job and looking for a tip.
