Another UPDATE on my MOM's DRESS!!!! PIC of the infamous RED dress incl!
Well, I finally spoke to my Mom AND the manager at Demetrios. I learned that my mom THOUGHT she was leaving a $650 deposit on the gown but the store went ahead and charged her BANK CARD for the FULL amt of the gown which was well over $1300....
Well, after hearing that, you can imagine that I felt terrible that Mom was going to lose so much money. So I called the mgr and to make a long story short we have a few options:
1. they can dye the Demetrios gown completely gold... a shade of which I have yet to see - Mom told me to check it out first and give the approval. They will also chop off the train and they will absorb the cost of all this.
2. She can order another Demetrios MOB gown and if it's less $$$ (which it most surely will be) they will refund her the difference.
She sent me a pic of the infamous red dress... it's not exactly THIS one because hers is a Versace but she says it's almost identical...
Mom and I are fine btw.
SOOOOO.... what do you ladies think of the red one (for the reception) and what do you think of the dying the Demetrios gown gold???

I don't mind the fact that your mom has 2 dresses, my aunt did that for her daughters wedding and it was great. I wish I could afford to do that. Anyway I think she should maybe pick another MOB gown. She can probably save herself some money and you never know with dying how it will come out, especially gold, it could get a little scary. The style of these 2 dresses isn't much different. I think that your mom should look for another MOB dress and let them refund her the difference. Scratch a dress #2...does she really need 2?

The two dresses are so similar I don't even understand why she bought the second one. Anyway, if she's going to stick with the idea of changing into a second dress, than I think she should get a completely different dress for the ceremony. It almost looks like she bought the dres sin 2 different colors. She should probably get more of a ballgown for the ceremony and wear the sexier one for the reception.

Just have to say I love your poll options! You got me chuckling! I'd be hesitant in letting them dye and alter the dress. I'd say she should just get another dress and pocket the difference. Something that she could wear to the ceremony and reception.

I dont understand either why she went and got 2 dresses that look alike. Either way, I a bit scared of the outcome of dying the dress. I would tell her to find a different dress from demetrios and have them give her the difference.

Even though I picked the what the hell is up with your mother poll (because the whole situation makes me think your mother thinks this is her wedding) I think she should pick a different MOB dress but I would make sure you see what she is picking before she orders it!

These gowns are so similar why did she spend so much money on two of basically the same gown??
I think she should get a different demetrious dress that is not white, off white, or anything else that remotely resembles a wedding dress.
I am glad things are good between you two :D

I agree--those 2 dresses are almost exactly alike with the exception of the neckline. If you're fine with her wearing either of these dresses, I personally think the best option is to have the Demetrios dress dyed gold and have them take the train off. If you're not a fan of the dresses, then have her get a more traditional MOB dress and this way she can get some of her $$ back--and maybe give some of it to you for the wedding!!!

IMO i like the 2nd dress. why does she need 2 dresses anyway? i would tell her to go withthe 2nd dress fixed up by demitrios and to wear only the 2nd dress. tell her to stop stealing your thunder if she insists on wearing 2 they should be a little more different. i think you deserve a hug its crazy some of the things we have to go through as future brides i know it can be hard too with our parents. my father wants to sing at my wedding but if i ask him to borrow $$$ he doesn't call me for months. good luck to you

I think the red one is beautiful and she should just wear that the whole day.
No offense to your mother, but why does she need two gowns, you should be the center of attention!
If she is going to have two gowns, then she should look for a different Demitrios. That one looks way too bridal.

I'm probably in the minority here but aww.. she's just excited.. she wants to look beautiful for your day.. the top dress is perfect!! It doesn't look like a wedding dress, nobody will even know.. She will look stunning, but nothing will take away from the bride!!!!!!!!!!! GOOD LUCK I think it's cute, that she's clueless,and just so excited
