another veil question

another veil question

If I'm getting married in a church, when does the veil get lifted from being in front of you??

Is it lifted when you are given away?
Or is it lifted by the groom when the priest says 'you may kiss the bride?'

Or do you get the choice? I don't think I've ever seen anyone keep the veil in front through the ceremony...it might be kind of cool to stay under the veil until you finally kiss the groom.
Or is that me just being ridiculous?

I think you have a choice, FH is doing it. He wants to!!

I am not really sure and have often wondered about that myself. I think it would annoy me through the whole ceremony.

I think it would depend on the kind of veil you have too. If it's just a single layer, then you don't have much of a choice. It seems though that most don't keep layered veils covering the face the entire ceremony though any more.

You choose. In most wedding I have see the FOB do it.

But my FH wants to do it

Re: another veil question

From my experience (and what i'm doing for my ceremony) , the FOB lifts the veil to kiss the bride, then puts the veil back. Then the bride wears the veil for the whole ceremony and after the couple is pronounced man and wife, the husband lifts the veil and kissed the bride. I think the veil is symbolic of the mans headship over the wife, so it would only be appropiate if he lifts its, and only after the ceremony has ended.
