So I have a dear cousin of mine that is in my wedding party. She is a plus size and I picked a bm dress line that had plus size dresses. Unfortunately, extra material has to be added to the dress. The dress is orginally $135, but with the extra material and alterations, it will cost an additional $155. Because she is not in the best financial ground right now, I offered to pay $100. The saleswoman said to me beforehand that she was certain we would need extra material and I told her to please not say anything to my cousin and that I would pay for the extra material. Now it looks like Im going to have to dish out $255 instead of the original $100.

WHAT????? $155 EXTRA?? That sounds like a complete rip off to me!! you should ask to speak with the store Manager or owner. It sounds like they are trying to take you to the cleaners!

No, its not the salon's fault. She is actually helping me out in the long run. Once you see the breakdown it all makes sense
Bill levkoff plus size: extra $40 (I knew about this) Extra fabric: $20 alterations : $95 The dress has to be pulled apart and remade to add the extra panels on both pieces and reattach and add more beading to the extra fabric.

THis is not right but unfortunatley you are going to have to pay it all yourself to avoid hurting your cousin.....maybe your mom or your aunt (her mom?) can help?

you should try and negotiate those alteration fees. That sounds high.

I really cant. Even before we ordered the dresses she told me she wouldnt be mad at me if I asked her to step down if I couldn find a dress that fit her. I cant ask her to pay because her son has A LOT of medical problems and she has to constantly take unpaid days off to take him to the doc. I feel horrible about this, but I cant mention this to her because she'll be devasted and insist that she not be in the wedding party. I cant think of her not being by my side on my wedding day. But it stinks that I have to pay so much!!

She did, but the dress still wont fit. She doesnt know any of this.
