So I have left deposits for all our major vendors and I noticed that our wedding fund is very low so it is back to serious saving! Is anyone else getting nervous over the money they have to come up with?

Re: Anxiety over all the money still to shell out
omg! so seriously this is the exact convo that FH and I were having last night ... we have a budget calculator on the knot.com and we are techinically 4 grand over budget.... so we need to start making cut backs ... we are already strechting ourselves thin because we do save in our joint checking (wedding fund) every month ... over a thousand dollars and we are worried that we wont have enough to pay for it! As it is, neither of us buy lunch anymore, we bring it in ... and we stopped going out!

I am starting that this week do you feel it makes a difference. My Fh is in law school and he only dj's on certain weekends so when it is slow i'm the only income. Im trying to pay small amounts to each of the vendors so we can try to get it done soon.

yeah we are waiitng till we save a little more and then pay our vendors again .. right now they all have their deposits. the lunch thing hasnt made much of a difference yet because what I save on lunch I usually end up buying wedding stuff (like materials - I am doing a lot of DIY stuff) so I mean it helps in a way

Re: Anxiety over all the money still to shell out
I have alot of anxiety about how much money we need to save. My FH tells me it will be fine, but he is too laid back about it. We just bought a condo and its almost impossible to save what we need to do. I will give you some advice, try to deal with it and talk it out with your FH as best you can, at first I didnt and I ended up getting really sick. I started to have panic attacks and lost ALOT of weight from all of the anxiety.... I do have to add that on top of all the wedding planning we have the new house and we both got new jobs so alot has changed.
It is really hard but just think about everything you 'need' and then predict how much you can spend and see if you should make cut backs. Right now I am trying to do the same to see where I can save money. Hang in there

I can't even begin to explain how much anxiety I have!! FH and I have hardly anything saved. My parents are giving us a generous amount that will basically cover the cost of the reception. All of a sudden I realized all the vendors we will have to pay which I'm glad we're paying for at least half of our wedding but I have no idea where it's coming from!!! We've been living together for 6 years already so you would like we have a ton saved but not the case. FH just went on a job interview today which i'm hoping works out and that things start getting better for us.

It can DEF get stressful....i still get nervous and we only 2.5 months left to finish paying everyone off.....my advice is pay some things as you go along, the less things to pay for on your list the less anxious you might feel....i paid off my photographer in July, and we just paid off JT so that took off a lot of pressure...im hoping to start paying everyone else off in october so that by the wedding we dont have to worry

Did your vendors give you the option of doing that? All my vendors want the money either 2 days before or the day of.. that stresses me out alot cause I start to think.. what if I just dont have it! I would be alot calmer if i paid everything off in advance!
please excuse me im clearly nuts. I need a vacation from wedding everything!!

Re: Anxiety over all the money still to shell out
I am a bit older than some and working for a while so honestly we have the money saved but I get anxiety over the amount we are spending which we worked so hard for. Although, even though we could pay it today we don't. You might as well collect interest on your money instead of letting someone else collect it. Also, if god forbid something happens, you could loose what you have paid so far as opposed to just loosing a deposit. People do not read their contracts carefully.
I think its importnant to just keep record of your expenses and come up with a savings plan to save the amount you need to. i.e., target your savings every month. This is how I save all the time (wedding or no wedding) and it is a great motivator.

I am freaking out!!!! I am so bad at saving and I dont know what else to do. I am hoping that my dad will help us more, but I cant rely on that. I have to pay over 50K more and it is so hard to save because we already have the house and are paying our mortgage. It is nuts!!! You are not alone with the anxiety.

Too bad we can't register with our vendors! That would probably be better than towels and pots and pans -

Have you considered making a monthly budget? You can use the money only that you need each month and cut costs? Maybe buy in bulk food etc?
