I want to cancel it. I am already freaking out about flying.. I am so scared to fly. It takes alot of medication to get me on a plane. I have been on a plane a millions times but I usually dont sleep for a week before and cry while taking off. Yes its pathetic. For some reason I am already freaking out about the honeymoon.

Re: Anxiety over Honeymoon
I know how you feel, I just packed last night because I think in some weird way me not packing is gonna make me feel better about having to fly, like if i packed to early i would have to think about it more cause I hate flying to. I have to take medication also but in the long run, being somewere beautiful on my honeymoon with the person i love makes it easier to just do it and not think about it so much. Its not pathetic everyone has there fears but dont let it ruin you HM and wedding!!!!

Re: Anxiety over Honeymoon
I understand completely. I've never flown before, and I feel as if I probably have gotten to the point in my life where I just can't. Had I when I was younger, I don't think I'd have as much fear. But I really am going to be a basket case if/when I ever do get on a plane. FH gets mad at me when I say I want to go to the dr for medication, and that I won't enjoy myself that way, but what's really to enjoy on a flight? I'd rather just be calm!

I really recommend getting some medication to calm you. You wont miss out on the flight if you take a low dose of something but you will feel much more relaxed. It def helps imo!

My Dr gives me Xanax when I have to fly... I'm terrified as well.
I get to the point where I shake so bad where I cant' walk or talk. Talk to your DR they will be able to help you.

Awww Jen! Although I am not really afraid to fly I do get a little anxiety during take off and landing. I think you should ask your Dr. to give you something to calm you down. Dont cancel your HM. If you do that I think you'll regret it.

Go get medication. You are not going to miss anything on the flight even if you are knocked out. I fly all the time and trust me there is not much to do except sleep and maybe watch a movie. I can't read on a plane so my options are really limited.

I know this is a huge fear for a lot of people -- so nothing to be embarassed over. Talk to your doctor to make sure you are taking the right mediciation.
If it is really that bad look into places you can drive too. You don't want to be stressing over that the week before your wedding or the whole time you are away.

Re: Anxiety over Honeymoon
aw sorry to hear this. . I agree with girls who suggest taking something for anxiety and if you really don't want to. . find somewhere local you can take the train or drive. .it won't be so exotic but you can relax. .
that said I do relate. . I actually fly ALL the time for work, like every other week but have been sooooo anxious lately. . keep thinking I am NOT going to crash before my wedding. . but now at least I have NO MORE FLIGHTS before my wedding. .
i mean I don't want to crash after either!! but it just seemed like a bigger risk before. . which I KNOW is ridiculous

Re: Anxiety over Honeymoon
I have a fear of flying but it isn't as dramatic as some of you, and I feel lucky about that. I hope I can give you a little bit of what helps me feel ok about it...
Usually the reason I'm so scared of flying is because I have absolutely no control over what's going on with this huge hunk of metal I'm in. I like being in control and I don't trust people sometimes. So that's a major reason I feel a lot of fear in a plane.
However... lately I've had to fly back and forth to FH who lives in NC. He flies to me once a month as well. If I lived in fear everyday, I wouldn't be able to live my life. We couldn't have kept up our relationship. We wouldn't be about to marry.
Life is so good right now and there is so much to celebrate. When you get on that plane for your honeymoon, you will be with the love of your life. You trust him completely, so give in to that trust. Hold him close and let the winds take you where they may. You have each other to hold onto now. Use that and feel comfort in it.
I hope you can calmly and rationally get from today to the day of the honeymoon, and when the fear comes over you, replace it with comfort from your husband who loves you and protects you.
The other trick I have is to 'put off' my worrying... don't worry about something today that isn't coming up for a certain amount of time. Put it off until the day or two before the event that scares you.

Thats funny. My DR gave me a script of it for 'planning' she said I was to stressed
If you want to sleep and the xanax doesn't do it, they can give you a low dose of valium. That knocks me on my tush and I actually wake up fine, not drosey or foggy headed. Its deff not something I would take everytime I take a plane, but the longer flights I would.

I feel really bad for you. Im so sorry.
But there are alternatives. I think you need to get some professional help. You can go to experts who can help you overcome your fear of flying.
You have 4 months till your wedding. It would be a shame for you to cancel your HM because of this. If medication throws you off for a few days then I think you should get professional help. Plus, you have 4 months to go see someone.
Its worth every penny if takes our anxiety away.
HTH.

Re: Anxiety over Honeymoon
Even an over the counter sleep aid like 'Simply Sleep' or Tylenol PM can help. I really hate flying and dread it but I push myself and get on planes often because I love traveling so much. We're going to Asia on our HM so we have a 16 hour flight ahead of us. Yuck! Be glad you're not doing that one Seriously though, using a sleep aid or anti-anxiety medicine can help calm those racing thoughts in your brain and you can also try a great book called 'From Panic to Power' that is about anxiety generally. Ugh and I hate turbulence so much. I think that's what freaks me out more than worrying about crashing.

Im a little relieved I was telling FH a few min ago how scared I am alreayd and he said his uncle who is a flight attendant for AA is going to try to work our flight. Not sure why but this makes me a little less anxious. His uncle is hysterical always makes me laugh, im sure he will calm me down.. or if not he will laugh at me lol

I am the SAME WAY! As soon as the beverage cart rolls around, I stock up on those mini vino bottles. LOL. You know, the only thing that gives me peace is the fact that I work in insurance and I see applications everyday with people that travel ALL the time. We still give them insurance because flying is not considered much of a risk.
