Re: Any 07 latina brides out there?
Hi there Jacqueline- My wedding is a bit of everything. We'll have some ethnic music, some disco, some slow ones, some 80's and some top-40 hits. We are gonna have a really mixed crowd so we want to make sure everyone gets to dance. What about you?

Hello!!! I wanted a mantilla, but I don't like the way it looks with a blusher (with my dress), and a blusher is a MUST (for my fam at least LOL). Almost everything is traditional...my dress has long sleeves too!

Hey Alex. Welcome aboard! I wanted a mantilal veil and was THIS close to ordering one very similar to the one you like but decided at the last minute not to because the ladies suggested it would be overkill with my dress which is solid lace and when I did try it on, it did take away from the dress. So not wearing my mantilla but I think with your dress it will be beautiful.
Oh forgot! I am Puerto Rican but FH is half Italian, half ugoslavian.... How's that for a mix! Our kids will eb REAL confused.

well i WAS a latina bride--now i'm just an old married lady!
we married at the hall and had programs.
i love the mantilla veil--for me i didn't like it on me, but i think its such a gorgeous type of veil.
the spanish aspect to our ceremony was the 13 Arras or Monedas---lot of ppl liked that.
we had a great DJ that planned tons of spanish music as well as a mix of everything else

My FH and I are getting married in a church - my programs are designed but I'm just waiting on a couple of things to finalize before I can print them.

I'm not getting married in August and I'm not wearing a mantilla veil, although I wish I was, but I'm Latina. Half Puerto Rican, half Dominican and FH is 100% Guatamalen. What a mix, huh?
Anyways, welcome aboard! Your dress and veil are absolutely beautiful!!!!!!

Not to hijack the thread, but Melissa, we're doing the arras too (and the lazo) - how long does this take during the ceremony? I figured it would be super quick - like 1 minute, but then I realized that I have no idea if there's a whole process to it or whatever.

Re: Any 07 latina brides out there?
I was a latina bride.... been married 16 days. I didn't use the mantilla, nor did I do the arras or the laso. We had a bilingual ceremony with bilingual entertainment and bilingual program cards. I'm 100% Puerto Rican but there aren't many PR traditions that I wanted to use at my wedding. If you really want something traditional, no matter how long it takes, do it! That was one minor problem I had. The ceremony began at 4:15pm and ended almost at 5pm...it was a very hot day and the photographer, the minister and my entire fam was rushing the ceremony! I told them all to fly a kite...and I didn't care if it took 2 hrs, as long as I was marrying the man I love. Enjoy your day!!! BTW, I love your dress, shoes and veil...I think you have a beautiful combination...don't change a thing!!! Good luck to you....Best wishes!

Cool, right?
Gotta love Latinos! (And everyone else, too, of course!)

I originally wanted 'Dance with my father' Luther Vandross, but it got too emotional for me to even listen to....After going to my sister's wedding in June, she picked 'Mi Nina Bonita' and my dad liked it so much, so I had to find something that would convey my message to him...so I picked 'Besos de Mariposas' Butterfly Kisses in Spanish. I think it's a beautiful song!
