Any 2004 Brides

I am a 2004 bride (9/18/04). Here are my vendors:

Church: St. Dominic's (my parish in Bklyn)
Reception: Manor East
Videographer: Bellarino Video
Photographer: Marcy Studio (studio in Bklyn)
Limos: Marcy Studio (gave us about the same price as a Limo company that we looked into in LI)
DJ: Let Us Entertain You
Florist: Malverne Florist (for the flowers for my Fiance, Groomsman, and Fiance's Family) and Emilie's Florist (a florist in Bklyn that I am using my flowers, the Bridesmaids and my family)

Who are you using? When are you getting married?

Re: Any 2004 Brides

We do have alot of time (I have 778 days left) but the longer you wait then the vendors that you want might be taken for that day. That is why we booked alot of our vendors already.

Re: Any 2004 Brides

I'm getting married May 16, 2004. So far we've booked:
Reception: Floral Terrace
Church: St. Paul's Greek Orthodox Cathedral

We're going to start looking for video, photo and limos in October or November

For the Florist, we're going to use FH's family friend, but we haven't officially booked him yet.

Re: Any 2004 Brides

To all of you who are planning a 2004 wedding, may I ask how the reception hall prices are? I was originally planning a 2003 wedding, and am wondering if the prices increase much year to year? Have you been able to bargain much? Did you find that a lot of days are booked already? Thanks :)

Re: Any 2004 Brides

Hi,
Isn't it exciting (and a bit overwhelming!)...
I'm a January 2004 bride.
So far we have just been focusing on the reception and have pretty much decided on East Wind in Wading River. As for the rest.....I guess the most worrysome for me is the photographers. I had NO IDEA how expensive photography would be and considering that pictures as so important I'm worried on who to choose!
Best of Luck to us ALL!!!

Re: Any 2004 Brides

When I went on the reception hunt, this was back in March 2002, someplaces didn't even have their 2004 rates out. So they said they couldn't give us a definite rate being that we were so far in advance. But one of them mentioned they would give us the 2003 rates since it was only fair. I would stress this with reception places you visit. You can even use this as your bargaining pt: Place XYZ is willing to give me 2003 rates but I like you guys more can you see what you can do, type of thing.
CB already had a 2004 rate structure so I couldn't bargain with them too much. The funny thing is that when we originally went to look at the place (I already knew we were booking before we saw it) they gave us one date. I think it was 3/17/04 something like that. When we went back with my dad to sign the contract, that date was already booked! So we were moved up to the 5th of March. Better for us! AND they were already booking for 2005.
I would recommend those places that are very popular i.e. CB or any Scotto Bros. venues to visit asap to see if the date you have in mind is available. Then go from there.

Good Luck on your search and happy planning!

Re: Any 2004 Brides

At Floral Terrace, they gave me 2003 prices, because they didn't have 2004 prices out yet. We also ended up getting March prices for a May wedding. You just cannot settle for the the first price they give you.

Re: Any 2004 Brides

When we went to the Manor East (Feb. 2002), they gave us the price that they were using now. There 2003 prices did not go into effect until September of 2002, so as long as we booked the ME before Sept., we would be given 2002 rates. So of course we booked in Feb.
