Any advice for a road trip?

Any advice for a road trip?

We're driving up to Ithaca to visit Pete's parents next week. It's about a 4 1/2 hour drive, we usually stop 2x and it becomes more like 5 hours. I am giving formula and nursing. We're planning on leaving at 10am to avoid traffic, and this is when Lyla's at her best, and will *hopefully* sleep most of the way.

I guess I'll have a thermos of warm water to mix with the formual for her bottles. And, I sometimes still nurse 'on demand' so we'll have to pull over or stop to nurse her. The only problem is that when she nurses she takes forever, like 1 hour. We'll also stop to eat, and stretch and change her diaper.

Any tips? I know there's not much to do, since by then she'll only be 8 weeks old.

Re: Any advice for a road trip?

Hi Niha! DH and I have taken Lyndsey on a bunch of LONG road trips already....and she has slept the entire time each time we have gone. I actually had to wake her to change her and feed her, and then she fell right back to sleep again! I think when they are so young, they tend to fall asleep in the car due to the vibrations and noise. Anyway, my only suggesion is to sit in the back with her, that way you can entertain her if she does wake up. HTH!
