Any allergic brides out there?

Any allergic brides out there?

I am very torn about this, I am getting married this summer (62days and counting ), and I am prone to allergy attacks. I have always dreamed of lots of flowers at my wedding but I don't want to sleep through the wedding on allergy pills either. I have gotten some beautiful silk flowers for myself- but I would like to mix some real flowers in for the church and for my MOH-- anything not under my nose should be OK. Am I all alone? is anyone else having this problem? Thanks
P.S> happy planning to all!!!!

if you don't mind me asking! What do you think about the silk as opposed to the real? I was considering looking into that also! suggestions on where to get them from?

Thanks and take care!

I used a place in Hicksville called Phillips silk flowers 516-931-5265. My bouquet is all orchids which by the way, would be way over budget for me with real flowers(was quoted $300 for real) . All together it cost $70 dollars and was ready in 2 weeks time. I hope this helps. Your brother is very lucky to have you!!!!

I would try a search on hypo allergenic flowers. I dont' know if that exists, but i did one for my FH on hypo allergenic dogs and came up w. some options! The only other thing you might consider are berries and greenery. Good luck!

Have you tried Claritin-D?

It doesn't make me drowsy at all, in fact it says on the label it may keep you awake. Good luck.

I'm getting married next July and I'm allergic to just about everything. I'm on Zyrtec and it really seems to help me.

Yes I am allergic to fresh flower, and they will bother me. I am getting silk for everybody and everthing except for the centerpieces. I have seen so many silk flowers at weddings that almost always I was fooled they look unbelievable!!! Don't worry if you have the slightest feeling it will bother you ....go for the silk.

Re: Any allergic brides out there?

I am allergic to everything. I've been getting allergy shots for a year now and am much less allergic now than i was. obviously, not a quick fix so i suggest research. i don't like silk flowers so i've been searching for not-too-smelly flowers. martha stewart weddings magazine (i think its still the most recent issue - has a light green cover with a flowery cake on it) has a listing and photos of all flowers and lists how fragrant many of them are. also try on the knot's website, they also have a listing of what all the flowers mean and it includes information on how fragrant they are. I'm using a lot of green stuff - like ivy on the chuppah instead of flowers. also, talk to your florist...mike at burton's was very helpful and told me we'd be able to make it beautiful with real flowers that won't stink up the place. as far as medicating....i find that 4-hour chlortrimaton (spelling?) is great because it works really well and doesn't make me sleepy and droopy. i don't get that glazed over look in my eyes. perscription i take zytec and it is pretty good. i'm also allergic to make up and have found after many painful and blotchy tries that almay's foundations are really hypo-allergenic (some things claim to be but i'm hyper-sensitive so i still have reactions). good luck to all the sneezy brides!
