So last night after work I donated blood...i have been donating for about 6 years now and i always feel fine afterwards....so after i donate my blood i go to the waiting area, have my water, have my juice, i feel fine, get into the car and holy light head and naseuas! I felt so crappy! And today too! White as a ghost, really light headed...
what the heck? Any suggestions?
I have been drinking tons of fluids!

OMG! I have never donated blood (have been meaning to though) so I don't have any advice. Feel better though!

lots of fluid and juice. Take it easy tonight and get to bed early. Chicken soup always helps too. You are just run down from it. Feel better!

oh my gosh.. that sounded like me the time i gave blood.. let me tell you. it was in college and this is goin to sound crazy.. but a friend of mine tried to bribe me and said if you donate blood u get food after. and i saw people eating like heros and such. i was hungry and yes its sad I do anything for food.. but i was like ok. let me do it. its for a good cause and all. well it was my second to last class and i figured i could do it inbewteen.. apparently they tell u should wait awhile after and dont drive right away.. well after i was done givin blood. apparently all i got was fricken crackers and water.. i laid down for an hour.. tried to get up.. was soo sick. i was ther efor 4 hours.. and had to get someone to pick me up and drive my car.. it was horrible!! but i definately felt good when i got the letter in the mail thanking me for giving blood!!:)

I donate blood! I used to donate every three months, but I have had to do it less frequently lately. I think that donating blood continually and for as many years as you have been takes a toll on your body. My blood pressure was fine before I started donating, but then with each trip to the blood center it kept decreasing and is now to the point where I'm not supposed to donate anymore. One key thing is eating a full meal with protein prior to donating, so that may have been your problem. Once I donated blood after I ate, but it wasn't a substantial meal and I passed out on the chair. Something that will help... they have to do this to me every time I donate because of my low blood pressure... they keep a cool rag on my forehead and also elevate my legs afterwards so the blood and recirculate. I get so sick donating but my blood type is the universal donor so I really want to help.

That happens to me everytime I donate!! It starts when I am still in the chair giving blood. They always come over to me and lay me down because I get very pale. I always just make sure I rest and go to sleep afterwards and have plenty of juice and food.

I can't donate blood bc I'm super anemic. (I'm always rejected)... but we have a blood drive at work every year (which is where I met FH!!) but one of the girls in my office donated and usually she is fine but this year she had the same problem... lots of juice and rest. She was out of work the following day.

I always donated blood and never had a problem until this past March. I felt fine but then the next day, I just didn't feel right at all but after just laying down all day and resting & drinking and eating a lot, I felt better. Just take it easy and rest up & drink lots of water.

the only time I gave blood the woman wasn't paying attention and I passed out. I think i am on the boarder of the weight requirement. I wish i could donate though, its such a great thing.

I donated once....never again. I passed out in the chair and I really didn't feel right for days afterwards. I guess its probably because my blood pressure is really low (varies between 90/60 and 110/60)...I guess I was nervous that day so my BP was high

Oh nooo Christina!! I have a great remedy. Put like two teaspoons of sugar into orange juice and stir it up well and sup it over 5-10 minutes, not too fast. I think that could help.
PS: The coincidences continue... Mike donated blood today!! lol. So weird.
