I made up a list last night and I am way over. We have to guarentee 135 and Im at 150 w/ out the rest of FH family list. Did anyone else have to cut there list? I dont know how I can. Alot of them are relatives that have to be invited and I dont want to cut my friends, it is my day! Anybody else w/ the same problem?

We had a list of 260. We cut it down to 216.
We are now back up to 246 - invites go out in a few weeks!

YUP and we just seem to keep adding ... it's a little scary. We actually paid the hall up to our minimum (180 guests) already. We're just sitting tight now to see how many people over that will be there.

Our min is 150. We were hoping to invite 200, but now it's up to 225 and still growing. Maybe I'll just cut some people off at the last minute.

i was over so i got rid of guests for anyone who doesn't have a serious bf/gf that i know of.
i still have guests for people that don't know anyone else though. i also took off guests for most of our family!
have you tried that approach?

That's a good idea. We keep adding people too, though I think we are going to have a B list, so if people can't come, we can invite others, but I don't have to completely figure that out for a while.

We had so many people on our first list, if 20% said no, we still couldn't fit them in the room!!!! We finally cut some (people my parents knew that we did not), so we could fit in the room, and then made a 'B list' I figure it this way - I'm lucky to have so many people that we would want to share the day with us! However, wouldn't it just figure, we didn't make our minimum b/c we got so many 'no's? So, I try not to worry. Too much. I hope lots of people say yes!!!!

i have the same problem... we were hoping to invite no more than 190 or so... we're currently up to about 215... and we still don't have all of FH's list... whoops....

Have you tried making a 'A' list and a 'B' list. Send the first group out 10-12 weeks prior to the wedding and as you get nos, send out the b's at week 8. Noone feels slighted and you can maximize it while CYA>

We haven't even gotten to this point yet - but I have a feeling we are going to go over.
I am probably going to do something similar to what Deb said - try to buy the most time by sending out the invites slightly early

I wanted 120.
Our list is currently 254. Believe me, I know how you feel. 98 of those 254 are mine - the rest are FFIL's stupid friends who probably don't want to be there anyway!!!

OMG---WAAAYYYYYYY over what we both wanted...however, Mom, Stepdad and FMIL/NFIL are all helping with costs, so they get to invite all the people they want.
I have TWO simple words...
Italian AND Jewish.....
My italian (family) side of invites is at 160 His jewish (family) side of invites is at 140 Our friends total about 60 Old family friends total about 40
This is an INSANE amount of people!!!!!! We guaranteed 200 (for now)---that number will go up before the contract is signed.....but the list has to be cut by AT LEAST 100!!!! My goal is to have 250 invites sent out....HA HA HA But, we shall see what happens in the next couple of weeks.
So much for a 'small' beach wedding!!!

I wanted a small intimate wedding. I then realized that there is nothing intimate about my family. I love them all, but there are so many people to invite. I wanted 125 , we can't seem to cut the list less then 200. I feel your pain.
