I just feel like a DJ or Band would be too much money...I really wanted a band...anyone else having this problem or had this problem and had/will not have dancing?

Re: Any brides NOT having dancing at their weddings??
I personally think that the music makes the party (along with the food of course) and would think it was really strange if no dancing was going on.... Have you looked into getting a really cheap package from a dj? like just the basics?

I agree...I feel that they pace the wedding with their annoucements etc.... cake cutting, bridal party entrance, family entrance....yeah a DJ seems cheaper than a band if you want to keep the cost down in that area

Re: Any brides NOT having dancing at their weddings??
A friend of mine went to a wedding once that had no music and she said it was horrible..she said it was like a crowded lunch room because there's just so many people, and there's nothing else to do but talk, so it just kind of gets loud and crazy.. maybe they just didn't have things set up right, or something? But she said she left there with such a headache and everyone was so bored for 4hrs with nothing to do but talk...
FM Ent has a DJ for I believe $800-$900..

My brother's friend got married last year and he used FM. He said they were amazing and the prices were great.

I've heard of weddings where the music was an iPod hooked up to speakers, no joke. At least you know the music will be good?
But in all seriousness, most DJs have a very basic package from 800-1k starting points.

ITA! you can get a DJ for around $700 if you're willing to sacrifice the MC.

You can definitely find cheap DJs...especially try Craigslist...even an iPod can be used!

Re: Any brides NOT having dancing at their weddings??
I think the music is SO important. Most people love weddings just for the fact of dancing all night! I booked FM Entertainment- they have a package with the DJ / MC for a little over a grand. The DJ package is about $800.

Honestly, you can always turn to Craigslist and search for a DJ who is just starting out. They will probably give you a great deal and will work their but*s off to put on a good show so that they can grow their business!
