Any Curly Girls Staying Curly?

Any Curly Girls Staying Curly?

Seems like everyone wants to straighten. My worst wedding fear is the hair! It's naturally curly and my FH loves it like that. There's not much to do with it but let my curly flag fly.

Anyone have any curly tips for me?

Ughh I have the same problem! My hair is long and curly and I don't know what to do with it! Everytime I go get an up-do they always end up straightening it and I never like it! I even went to a really good, rediculously expensive lady for my cousins wedding and she said she couldn't work with my hair My hair also frizzes easily and I'll cry if its a fuzz ball for my pictures.

My hair is wavy/curly so I am probably going to have it curled to give it some definition.

I say if you have curly hair, and your FH loves it, just buy a pretty hair piece and rock it natural. Maybe just put some product in to maintain it and to show off your bejewelled hair piece/flower/etc.

Thomas Knoell has beautiful hair pieces that would look great with your hair down and curly!

If you want to wear your hair curly but you want to eliminate frizz you should look into getting the brazilian straightening. It does not straighten your hair so I'm not sure why they call it that, it's a conditioning treatment that gets rid of the frizz. I get it done every 3-4 months and it does make it easier for me to blow out, but I can still wear it curly and it looks fantastic because there is no frizz.

it's nothing like the japanese straightening. I've never done the japanese straightening but my sister did, and she disliked it for the same reasons.

I really love it because it doesn't make your hair really flat like the japanese straightening does. I can blow out my hair in half the time, and I don't need to use a flat iron for it. Since I no longer use the flat iron my hair has more volume and body.

I'm not sure how much it costs in salons, I'm pretty sure it varies depending on the salon. I have a friend that is a hair stylist and she does mine on the side. I think she charges about $200 to $250.

If you decide to do it and you want her number FM me.

Has anyone tried the Devachan products or gotten an actual Curly Girl cut? They promote shampoo-less shampoo (no- or low-poo)or 'washing' with a conditioner. The stuff really works.

I'm nervous about the straightening as I know some people who took a really loooong time to recover. I guess it's all about where you go.

I'm staying curly...sort of! When my hairdresser 'curls' my hair, it really means blowing it out straight and re-curling it so that I don't get frizzy or curls tangled or messy looking. Even when I thought I was getting an updo, it was a curly, loose style.

I have to STRONGLY agree with the suggestion to do the Brazilian Keratin treatment!

I JUST did 2 weeks ago and have NEVER been so in love with my hair. It takes 10 mins. to blow dry straight. Today is the first time I am wearing curly and it's humid out....my curls are bouncy and FRIZZ FREE.

Best of all, I have hardly any product in my hair, a bit of finishing cream and that's it. Before I used to have to use mousse, anti frizz, hair polish ect.

Get the Brazilian straightening- you wont regret it.

I have curly/frizzy hair and I went with controlled large curls -- see my album pics. I let my hair air dry the night before. The morning of the wedding Stacy Pitt (my hair person) brushed out the curls, then used a curling iron, then set the curls with velco-type rollers while we did makeup. A few touch-ups after we took out the rollers, and perfect curls that never dropped!

My hairdresser wanted me to get this done, but I decided not to because she was saying how nasty your hair is for a few days and that you can't pull it back, wash it or anything. I think I remember her saying 3 days. I was afraid it would make my hair greasy.

I have wavy curly hair, but it's on the straighter end of the spectrum, so for me it's usually easier to straighten first, then re-curl, than just work with the natural curl, which is definitely a frizz ball. When I had my hair trial done, I don't even think it was straightened first though, just curling iron straight to it to define the curls, and I think it came out great. Still curly, but nice and sleek.

I'm definitely not going straight, not in June! I'll look like the Bride of Frankenstein....I'm either going curly or straightening and having waves. Not sure yet!

I've been looking into Devachon,(sp?). Have you had the cut?

Also thinking about Brazilian straightening, but I'm a little scared - I've heard mixed reviews about the different product lines and have no idea what to look for! I don't want to drop $400 on something that doesn't work....

You can't wash your hair for three days and it does look pretty gross by day three. Especially because after they have put the treatment in they blow it out and then flat iron it. So it's not only greasy looking but it is pin straight, needless to say I didn't leave the house unless it was absolutely necessary after the first day. I usually do it on a thursday so that I can kind of hide away for the weekend with it.

Even though the 3 days of no washing are a pain, the end result is worth it. I have curly hair and I can straighten it in the summer and not have to worry about it curling or frizzing. I really recommend it if these are problems that you have with your hair as well.

Re: Any Curly Girls Staying Curly?

I have the Brazilian too! It's amazing! There is a 1 day formula too that some salons carry. I found it to be less greasy and just as effective.

If for some reason, you didn't like the way your hair turned out with the Brazilian, just wash your hair with regular shampoo. There is sodium in most regular shampoos and that counteracts the keratin formula. The brazilian is not permanent. (Of course, you have to use a shampoo without sodium to maintain the treatment - the salon will sell it)

Good luck!
