Any gardeners?

Well, this weekend FH and I are planning to rip out the crazy yellow straggly bushes in front of the house.

any advice on this? The guy at Franks said they should be fairly easy to get out.

also, we want to replace them with some standard bushes/hedges. Something attractive/low maintenance for in front of the house (partial sunlight)

AND I want lilac. There is a spot that gets sun all day that I would like to use. It is on the side of the house, and I would like to use that spot to sort of separate the side yard patio from the front yard. any advice on lilac???

Neither of us have much of a green thumb, but we really are a soar sight, and I fell bad for the neighbors.

what about Rhododendrons fro the bushes?...they have a pretty flower in the spring...and are very low maintanance...also nice lush leaves

I THINK that is one of them that we were looking at yesterday, but they were babies, so it was hard to tell.
