any girls not doing a father/daughter dance?

my biological dad isnt in the picture. My stepdad will be there ( him and my mom now divorced) but we arent close. I am like so nervous to dance with him at the wedding because we aren't close like that. Its the only thing I am like nervous about.

I was just wondering if anyone is in a similar situation or if any girls aren't doing the special dance...

Thanks

I am not doing a father daughter dance. My father passed away when I was a baby, my mom isnt able to attend because of her health, Grandma doesn't feel strong enough to dance, and I would feel weird dancing with either my uncles of FFIL

No dance. We probably not going to do any special dances like this except our first dance.

Are you close with your grandpa or mom? You could dance with them.

My dad past away when i was 12 so i'm doing the father daughter dance with my fh's father because we get along so well and he already treats me like his daughter.

Same here...not close with my father in the least. I'm inviting him to my wedding and I'm not even sure about the whole walking me down the isle thing either...but def no father/daughter dance for us. If its going to be uncomfortable for you I would'nt do it.

thanks girls! i feel better now. I just feel bad because FH is def dancing with his mom and then I will feel bad if he like expected it and then we just skipped over it but I know that day I am goign to keep thinking about doing it and its going to make me so nervous...

my mom is walking me down the aisle and my grandfather passed away unfortunately because if he was still alive i def would have danced with him since I always looked to him as a father.

I'll be dancing with my mom! She'll also be walking me down the aisle. Hope that helps.

I am glad to read this..

My Dad passed in May.

My Uncle is giving me away but, I think if I danced with him, we'd both lose it (my Aunt, their sister, died right after too).

My FH has two girls. He said it was OK not to do F/D dance with them as they will have a wedding someday and he understands how I feel.

But I feel bad for my girls. Maybe they want to dance with their Dad. He suggested since there are two (twins), we dance with one each...

I dunno...

I still may lose it cuz I love them too.

I've lost my dad and stepdad by the time I was 14. My uncles are full it so I will not do the F/D dance. FH lost his mother in July, so we are not doing a M/S dance either. I think we will do a family dance with the song “Celebration” as a unity of one family. This is something I’ve had made up, but thought it was good enough for our family.

Well my Biological Dad is not in the picture hhasn;t even called me to congrulate me on my engagement (been engaged for almost a year now). But I would feel awkward just dancing with my stepdad, even though we are close. So what we are doing is going to have a dance where I will dance with my uncle, who s giving me away and then the other men in my family and FH will step in duringthe dance. At the same time FH will be dancing with his mom and his sisters, daughter and family will cut in.

I'm probably not doing one. My uncle and great uncle are walking me down the aisle. My mom said she doesn't want me to be missing out on anything cuz he's not around but part of me feels more comfortable leaving that out. I'd kind of like to acknowledge that he's not there and that no one is/has taken his place.

I think the older traditions are falling by the waistside b/c alot of parents are not together anymore. The only special dance that will be at our wedding is our first dance. My dad will be there, so will my stepdad, who mostly raised me. It would be too awkward.

In addition, both of FHs parents are deceased so I would feel uncomfortable doing special parents things..

My dad is out of the picture. I tried reconnecting with him when I got engaged, and I haven't heard from him since (about a year ago). FH's mom died a few years ago. We're going to have a daughter/father-in-law and son/mother-in-law dance and just have a good time!

I am dancing with my mom...my dad hates to dance and my mom loves the spotlight, so it seemed like a natural decision
