any golfers here?

hi-
I want to get FI private golf lessons for his bday.. does anyone know of a good public course that has affordable lessons?

I'm out in Brooklyn - there are a few courses in the immediate area such as Dyker or Mill Basin that offer private lessons.

Dyker is a full course and is absolutely gorgeous.

Mill Basin is a driving range, and also offer private lessons.

I gave my DH golf lessons at Bethpage...they have a Pro and a semi-Pro. I don't remember how much it was, but he liked it very much.

Where do you live? If you're near Port Washington? Harbor Links has great lessons - you can even do play lessons on their executive course. The rates are decent and you learn on grass.

Whereever you decide to get the lessons I highly recommend you ask one question: Are these lessons taught on mat or grass? If you want them to learn right and to not pick up any bad habits of bat, make sure it's on grass. Practicing and learning on a mat (which is what you do in the NYC course and some of the Nassau County courses) is not the same as learning on and playing on grass.
