Any Good Ideas on How to Honor my Mom @ Our Wedding? She's Been Such a Huge Help Throughout the Wedding Process...

Okay, so Dad gets to walk us down the aisle & have a dance with us, but what about Mom???
She's been a HUGE part of our planning process & I would love to do something special for her as well on our wedding day- any suggestions???

My mom and dad walked me down the aisle and after I danced with my dad, I also had a dance with my mom. There is one song that she loves and thinks of me everytime she hears it, so my band learned it and it was a surprise for her!

I'm in the same boat, especially since our wedding day will fall on Mother's Day next year, we both want to do something special to honor both our mothers that day.

We were thinking to give them roses and have my priest say a special blessing or include Mother's day in the readings... not sure..I plan on asking Fr. Bob about this, I hope he can guide us somehow..

I'm also having both of my parents walk me down the aisle. They both raised me and they both deserve that honor.

Mt mom walked me down the aisle at my first wedding (my dad passed away) but I also dedicated a song to her at the reception and danced with her to it.

We are including the following in our ceremony:

BrideMom & GroomMom, as the future comes from the past, know that without you this day would not be taking place. As we all know marriage is the coming together of two people. But it is also much more. The love that Bride and Groom feel for one another is the flowering of a seed planted by you in thieir hearts years ago. The reason they know how to love one another is a direct result of the love they were shown by you as they grew into the man and woman we see here today. Simply by being who you each are, you have allowed and created the fertile ground from which all you see around you has blossomed. Your children love you very much and thought now would be the perfect time to remind you of this by offering you these sysmbols of eternal love - these roses. (present rose to each mom) As Bride & Groom now step away from their past into this new phase of their life together, establishing a home and family of their own, know that their gratitude, their respect and most of all their love remain forever yours.

It would not be wierd dancing w/ your mom? I was thinking about doing that. I could dance w/ my brothers but I don't trust thier dancing skills.

Having both parents walk you down the aisle is a lovely idea I agree, but unfortunately my parents are no longer together & although they don't 'dislike' each other, I think my Mom would feel uncomfortable doing that, because they're no longer married.

She can walk you down the aisle too.
You could dance with her.
You could make a toast to her and present her with your bouquet.
You could dedicate your wedding program to her and your relationship with her.

Be aware that it could cause trouble if you do for your mom and not FMIL. But, my sister found a great poem on the internet, read it and then gave my mom 1 dozen roses. Then they danced. It has become a lot more popular for brides to dance with their mothers.

I can't see why that would make your mom uncomfortable. Just because thy're not a couple doesn't mean they're not both still your parents. Have you mentioned it your mom, she may be much more open to the idea than you think.

Have you asked your mom how she would feel about this? You never know. I went to a wedding where the grooms parents were divorced and couldn't stand each other but they both walked him down the aisle. They did it for him. Maybe your mom would be ok with it.
