Re: any hawaii honeymooners out there?
We are going to Kauai and then Maui...with a day trip (all day) to Oahu to see Pearl Harbor, etc. Friends of mine are doing a cruise around the islands for 7 days, too. We're staying at the Hyatt at both islands :)

i am also looking to visit maui, kauai, and oahu. not sure which to hit first. i think i want to spend most of my time in maui and kauai. maybe a day or two at oahu. did anyone try to plan this themselves or did you use a travel agent?

ohau gives you more or the city life & the island life.. aka the best of both worlds!
maui is more sedated.. if you want to sit on the resort all day long then maui is the place to be. don't get me wrong all of the islands are beautiful. but if you don't have pre-scheduled activities for the daytime... then expect to visit Old Lahaina A LOT! lol. but I also got a lot out of maui. I went whale watching; snorkeling; dinner cruise; a luau; submarine excursion and play called Ulalena.. which is a must see! it's the best show I've ever seen.
Kaui makes Maui look like Miami! kaui is even more sedated than maui. it is more greener.. more land then anything else! but again.. this is hawaii and you can't go wrong.

We're going on a 7 day cruise around the islands so we're going to all three. It is much less expensive than staying on the islands and this way we don't have to worry about transportation between them.

Re: any hawaii honeymooners out there?
We stayed on Maui and the big island and took day trips to Oahu (for Pearl Harbor and Waikiki Beach) and L'anai. We really loved the big island, Oahu, and L'anai. We thought Maui was generally overrated and not particularly special - felt like we could've been anywhere else - but that's just us. When we go back, we're going to do the big island, Oahu, and Kauai.

I agree! We went to Maui & then Kauai. Kauai is alot more lush and relaxing. We stayed at the Hyatt on both island. We had an amazing time and we will go back one day. Pics in album.

We used a Travel Agent. Liberty Travel. It was just easier imo.

We're doing that too! The we are staying an extra 3 nights in Maui. The cruise was the only way we could afford Hawaii.
