during a wedding scott and i went to the bride and groom had us look check out the serial number of a dollar bill. the serial number had to end in a 2 or something like that. the person who has that number get to keep the centerpiece. kinda silly, tho, cuz at our table we had a couple of ppl who had the same number. they were civil... =)
At my sisters wedding the DJ did something cute. They asked one person at each table to get out a dollar. Then they did like a hot potato pass around with the dollar and when the music stopped they said 'Congrats to the person holding the dollar--you have won a dollar' Then the person that originally got the dollar out was the one that was given the centerpiece. It was really cute.

You can also ask the hall to put something (like a penny) under one plate per table. One of the weddings I attended, the bride and groom were both of Irish descent and the had old irish pennies put under the place settings. Not easy to do as they now use the Euro.

we got our idea from JulykBride's wedding and LOVED it.
someone takes out a dollar bill, passes it around and once the music stops, the person left holding the dollar bill gets nothing, it really goes to the person who was nice enough to take out the $1 in the first place.![]()
